In college my friends said "never date a girl that's a psychology major. She's trying to figure out what's wrong with herself".
At least they’re are trying. That’s more than can be said for a lot of people. Is it better to be with someone who’s got an understanding of their issues and wants to resolve them, or be with someone who doesn’t acknowledge their issues and/or who leans into maladaptive behaviors because of them?
I’ve dated people in both camps. I’ll take the psych major any day. By a long shot.
My daughter's therapist ticks a lot of 'manic pixie dreamgirl' boxes, but she seems to do it for my kid, so I guess it all works out.

I never understood the attraction. "oh my god she's so different!"
If she never painted her hair, her coy personality would be an actual red flag. But nope, coloured hair = quirky, so gotta put up with that whole mess.
On one hand that was part of the point of her character, that people were far more attracted to the idea of her than the reality. On the other hand, a beautiful actress portraying a very “cool millennial” aesthetic got to me too. She was the archetypal manic pixie dream girl in a story about how she won’t save you and you won’t save her, you both have to learn to save yourself.
And while we're on the subject of Ramonas, Ramona Quimby was a little shit with two loving parents who put up with way too much of her antics. If anyone should have been in therapy, it was Ramona. Think of the horrible, vain, manipulative adult she must have turned out to be.
I bet you any money that we're talking about the exact same person.
I could certainly see an adult Ramona Quimby changing her name to Ramona Flowers to get attention.
