submitted 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

From yesterday when i launch the game, i can play a little but i cant finish the party. The game is just crashing..

I can relaunch but recrashing back on desktop.

Is it linked with the EAC ?

Finally over apex for Linux ? Or, are you still able to play and then I should look logs ?

I seem to be able to play. But the lack of duos means I pretty much don't want to anymore.

A week ago they made an announcement referring to anti cheat improvements. Today, a couple of friends on Windows noted that the game no longer launched with AutoHotKey enabled (no malicious use cases, just using 60% keyboards) as of last night's minor update.

Since the game is deck verified, I'd expect respawn will resolve this soon enough.

Maybe the keyboard effectively, i use one like theses, but without AHT,
ive deleted config files to get default ones too, to be sure,

Today no issue, But as you said, we got a minor updates :D

Perhaps they were looking at people using SnapTap and similar technologies, which were recently banned in CS2.

I feel like analogue / hall effect switches can lend a player a substantial advantage in apex when it comes to strafing. I wonder if they've tried to mitigate that.

Apparently so, I took the time to consult forums and steams discussion, and apparently they target the scripts users for strafe, bunnyHop, and users of scripts for no recoils and theses kind of things. Concerning snaptap, a lot of Razer's users got to deactivate something (dont remember), so maybe that :D.

If they dont put the kernel level access, finally, that smelling good lol.

small update - there's been a minor (17.4 MiB) patch to Apex since. Could be worth checking in with it to see if it has resolved linux compat,

Edit - it's working for me on Fedora 40 Workstation. NB that I've never hit the original anticheat issue to begin with, and I use the following launch command to run the game under VKD3D (mostly AoT shader compilation) along with suppressing launch splash screens / videos and presenting Mangohud

mangohud %command% -novid -anticheat_settings=SettingsDX12.json

Edit 2 - tested again this morning and still working fine. I think you folks are good to go.

tested today, no issue for now :)

So sad that they didn't fix the AC until the game had been around for years, I would've loved to play it in the beginning when the player skill was more varied. Tried to get into it when Linux was allowed but it seemed like mostly the try-hards were still playing. Had some good games but it was a bit too sweaty for my friends at times.

I tried playing it through Wine during season 2 or 3, the game worked flawlessly but you would get kicked after 1-5 minutes due to missing AC.

maybe you could try to launch it, They made apparently big updates, to remove the using of scripts etc, should be better regarding your post ^^

I have played a fair bit over the past few days via Steam proton on Mint 22 without any issues.
