Batteries catch fire. Very large ones, or many cells together can mean a very hot, very dangerous fire, with the occasional violence of a cell bursting.

Being in close contact with something like a phone when that happens would cause burns, but they don't "explode" with very much force. (Relatively speaking. You wouldn't get lethal fragmentation for example, I don't think)

The note 7 batteries didn't really go boom in the way an actual explosive does, though the reaction is a sudden and fast release of thermal energy, its not that much energy in terms of explosive devices.

So no. You can't "hack" a phone and turn it into a bomb using just the hardware that is already inside. You could start a fire, and that could be deadly, but as an explosive device the battery in most phones is not that potent.

S-pankkia ei kuitenkaan syytetä rikoksesta, vaikka pankin tietoturvakäytännöt mahdollistivat varkaudet.

For real. I've seen kids years younger than when I started pedaling scurrying around on these, and it instantly clicked why it's a much better way to learn to stay upright on two wheels.

I wish my first bike had been something like that. Training wheels stop a bike from leaning into turns, so they don't teach you anything about what it is like to ride without them.

They'd have taken gold by just standing there and explaining their logic to the judges.

Yes and no.

Pending means the sub hasn't gone through to the home instance of the community. If you're the first subscriber, this means the there will be no inbound federation bringing the content from that community to your instance.

If someone else on your instance has already successfully subbed, the federating is already occurring, and your instance will be receiving the activity as it comes in.

Your instance will then show it to you, both in your subscriptions and in general, even though the sub is pending.

If your sub stays pending, you may have to unsub and resub to get it to work. If no-one else on your instance has subbed either, then the activity will continue to not show up for as long as it is pending.

I don't mind PDA most of the time. It's cute when two people are completely lost in each other. I appreciate it when people bother being discreet, but even when they don't, it's usually not that invasive when people express themselves just between the two of them.

But then there's the attention whores, playing it up for the crowds.

Absolutely, but those shouldn't be overlooked by anyone, and forgiven only once someone has made the effort to unlearn that shit.

Is the "profound" message here really just that as younger women enter the lives of their aging husbands and then fathers, they tolerate less and less of the historical sexist shittyness, as they've grown up a generation later than the previous main female figure in their lives?

Scoffing when asked to change ones behaviour for the better is not a gendered charachter fault. No-one likes being informed that something they've been doing, and consider normal, is bad, actually.

And that's not a reason not to improve. The opposite. It's a reason to embrace self-improvement, and to learn to do ones best to skip the denial phase.

Something I think most people, of both genders, can be very good at if they want to be.

I'm right there with you. I'm utterly confused.

What is there to forgive? Is thore some inherent shittyness in men that needs overlooking on the part of women, or suppressing on the part of men?

Or is this just talking about how gender equality as improved with each generation, so as the same dudes age, the younger women in their lives are asking them to be more and more fair?

I think those are extremely exaggerated lower eyelids. They rise a bit when a person smiles, so they're like that to make her smile look extra deranged.

2048 is so good. I love the teams each having three craft types. The tracks are really fun, with both wide sections where you can go flat out without a care, and narrow parts where you have to really thread the needle and use the airbrakes with total precision.

If you haven't already, check out BallisticNG. It's a retro style re-implementation of the classic WipEout physics, and the upcoming update will fully implement the 2048 physics mode.
