The problem with Kamala Harris' messaging was that white males still control 60% of the vote in America, either directly or by influencing their wives and kids.
And if you tell that demographic that they don't matter, then you aren't going to win.

On the other hand, Nazi Germany killed an estimated 6 million people.
WW2 killed an estimated 70–85 million.

I know it's a cynical comparison, and pacifism isn't a popular stance in the best of times, but still...
IMO war is always the worst of all options. But sometimes it's the only one.

The US needs to let you out first, though.

"Unlimited PTO" is a meaningless term, and a trap.
I have 42 days of PTO per year, plus 13 state holidays.
I have a right to take those days off, they can't be denied by anyone.
And if I don't take them, my team lead will have a talk with me in October at the latest, because the company would get in legal trouble if I didn't get them.

With "unlimited PTO" you have no such right to any amount of PTO.
Sure, you could try to schedule lots of PTO, but it can just be denied ("not possible right now"), or if you take too many, you're just fired.

I don't think any country in history has ever recovered from hate like this without being invaded and militarily destroyed first.
Which isn't an option anymore, due to nukes.

Ask Yourself if You’ve Earned The Right To Wallow: I’m a middle-aged, comfortable, straight white guy. I’m not going to take the brunt of what happens. I haven’t fucking earned it.

This exact message is a big factor that drove young men to vote Trump.
They kept being told by progressives that their own suffering isn't valid.

Anytime before they close the borders, that is.

If you want a clear definition, ask a mathematician:

A word is any written product of group elements and their inverses.

Or a computer scientist:

A word is a fixed-sized datum handled as a unit by the instruction set or the hardware of the processor.

Ah yes, yes...that's exactly what I meant.

In an enterprise environment, you rely on a service that tracks CVEs, analyzes which ones apply to your environment, and prioritizes security critical updates.
The issue here is that one of these services installed a release upgrade because Microsoft mislabelled it as security update.

What's the easiest way to make external USB drives automount, without adding them to fstab? It should just work even if someone else hands me their flash drive.
I'm running sway on Arch if that matters.

Google, DuckDuckGo and Bing now all return the same shitty LLM-generated nonsense sites to most of my searches, and don't respect my literal search terms even when I put them in quotes.

I'm not ready to pay for search, yet.

Is there any alternative?

It started as a stupid project cause I was bored. How much can you actually do without a windowing environment?
After finding out how to post to lemmy from a TTY, I realized that I can do most things I do daily using text.
Browsing the web in links, which opens all sorts of files in the corresponding programs if configured correctly.
Opening images in fbi, PDFs in fbpdf, listening to music in cmus, watching movies in mplayer, using e-mail in alpine, creating documents in vim and latex, ...
The only thing that still requires a GUI is image editing and a few websites I need that don't work without JavaScript.
And it's actually really nice...more focused, without loading times, animations, popups, ads, or other distractions, and everything is scriptable.

Anyway, sorry for the blog post.
