Summary

A Russian missile strike hit a hotel in Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine, where U.S., U.K., and Ukrainian humanitarian volunteers were staying. They survived, but four others were killed, and over 30 were injured.

Zelensky condemned the attack and urged continued pressure on Russia. Meanwhile, Trump is pushing for peace talks, pausing U.S. military aid and intelligence sharing after a dispute with Zelensky.

Critics fear Russia now has leverage in negotiations, as Europe struggles to fill the gap left by reduced American support.

There used to be a time when Republicans would lose their shit when US citizens were murdered by Russia.

Now they'll applaud it

[–] [email protected] 11 points 3 hours ago

As long as Annoying Orange says it's okay, they'll keep applauding

What we need is a Pearl harbour. Something so outrageous that trump will be forced to act against Russia.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 54 minutes ago

His name is Trump. Russia completed sidelined America's military.

I don't know, if in my country the government started to fire public employees just because a billionaire is on a ketamine overdose, there will be rioting in the street and the parliament will be set on fire. Instead all I'm seeing is "leopards ate my face" news pieces where they interview some fired federal employee that voted for Trump

Trump will blame someone else rather than his best friend Putin

Lol how do you think the aftermath of Pearl Harbour would have gone if someone like Trump was in power instead of FDR? He is the commander in chief. Nothing will happen.

It could potentially stop Americans from sleepwalking into the decline of their country, perhaps. Maybe even generate the political will to get rid of Trump. But none of that is even close to happening. The easy road off this path hasn't been available since last November. The path out of this mess now necessary leads through suffering.

No what we need is Americans to finally get a spine and topple their dictator. The world and US' future can't wait for year long courts that will likely result in nothing actionable anyway.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 hours ago

Which year long courts?

[–] [email protected] 12 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

The problem is Trump doesn't care about soldiers, Americans, or people other than himself. Maybe Congress could be pressured to act, though.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

He cares about looking bad, or weak

[–] [email protected] 5 points 5 hours ago

Then why does he keep doing both?

[–] [email protected] 31 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago) (2 children)

I don't even know what to say. I asked my dad what the fuck was so bad about his life? He hasn't worked for 30 years. He's collected every government benefit they offer. He even said, when arguing about the stock market, the market has been unprecedentedly rising for 20+ years. What the fuck are you mad about? You have everything except maybe extreme wealth and never leave the fucking house.

I'd have to go through my texts, the argument was lengthy, but I think he basically said he's been lucky none of us were killed by illegal immigrants. Literally, the last thing on a long list of things that has the potential to kill me.

i have an in-law with texan heritage (no longer located there) who is strongly concerned about the change in texan culture over the last, oh, 60 years. I'm still working to inform them that this is due to corporatism and not the mexicans that were there before their family

Putin testing his lapdog Trump if he will bite back to his owner.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

One of three possibilities.

  1. Orange Krasnov & Tulsi
  2. Pissed off Ukrainian
  3. The fucking Muscovites got lucky.

Trump will say it's Zelensky's fault because he wouldn't agree to his terms

[–] [email protected] 5 points 7 hours ago

"Check out was at 10AM. They shouldn't have been there, stupid humanitarians." - Trump, maybe

[–] [email protected] 111 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Trump is probably happy these particular people were killed. They were probably the same sort of journalists he's banning from press conferences.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 17 hours ago

he will also just 'fake it', as he does many other things, so long as he can advance ~~his~~ putin's agenda.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 16 hours ago (8 children)

Or say that Zelensky attacked the hotel in a false flag in order to pressure for support

Yes, and I’m very scared how many people mistake his attempts at appeasement as “peace”. What can be done? People are actually buying that Zelensky doesn’t “want peace”.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

One is a leader defending their country against an invasion. The other is a leader threatening several other countries with tariffs and the slight threat of invasion. It's clear who wants peace, those people are just in a cult whose capacity for logical leaps will never stop until the whole cult is history.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago)

You’re right. I just wish there was a way to change that narrative. I’m worried that too many people buy into it. I’m worried that too many people are buying into the whole “I just want bloodshed to stop” sayings.

trump is a gutless traitor, a demented rapist, and more incompetent than a bag of shit.

Will no one rid me of this demented rapist traitor?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 hours ago

Dont forget convicted felon.
From an outsider its extremely baffling that one president resigned from office after they found out he was fucking his secretary but this guys laundry list of actual real harm done is so long it would be like santas list from a cartoon christmas movie, and yet...
Voted him in when everyone was fully aware of everything.

I just cannot comprehend the USA

[–] [email protected] 25 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

I'm sure this is somehow Biden's fault. If not his fault, then it's Zelensky's. Or immigrants. Or DEI. Or Wokeness. Or trans athletes. Or Hillary's. Or....

I was on a Viber call with my cousin when this missile was flying towards my hometown, where she lives now. We were both crying as she was getting the notifications saying how many seconds are left until it hits.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Trump helping to get Americans killed. He just doesn't care. Must have caught that from his wife.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 14 hours ago

I don't think Krasnov has ever cared about anyone but himself...

Trump is pushing for peace talks

What the fuck is this reporting?!

[–] [email protected] 4 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago)

NewsWeek has always been a fascist rag.

Edit: the only reason it is well known is that propagandists paid to have it placed in every hotel room in the USA. Same as the Gideon Bible.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

It's accurate, it's just not informative enough.

Trump is pushing for peace, as in: Do everything Putin wants and you can have peace! Simple!

[–] [email protected] 9 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago)

Including, apparently, overthrowing Zelenskyy and installing a puppet.

EU needs to just suck it up and add Ukraine however necessary. Russia can't fight them all.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 17 hours ago

Comparing our reaction to this to the sinking of the Lusitania will be interesting.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 7 hours ago

Europe's "alternative solutions" involve praying America changes its mind by Tuesday.

I hope some of those US citizens includes the people Trump sent to Ukraine to chat with Zelensky's opposition.
