New York police have defended their actions after a bystander was shot in the head

This.

This is the problem already. Instead of "something happened, the officers in charge are temporarily on hold until we have fully investigated this incident" it's immediately defending the indefensible.

I'm all for unions but fuck the police union with an umbrella. Defending workers rights is great but this is defending psychopaths, defending no and bad training, defending violence, defending an abusive system that by now has killed thousands over decades.

STIO DEFENDING THIS SHIT

If you're in a reasonably sized company, do NOT go to HR. She might get fired for her behavior, you WILL be fired for starting a fire. HR does NOT like fires.

I had the good fortune to battle the CTO of a multinational who couldn't keep his hands off the employees. Everyone was too afraid to speak up, I was not. The CTO was fired. One day after he fired me with the full support of HR, because "you are incompetent in your job". Mind you this was after multiple stellar reviews of my local superiors

Ah fuck this was the Onion…

I know we've crossed that "reality is more ridiculous than the onion" long ago, but still, it's jarring to realise this was actually satire

How is this any different from theft? These people should be sent to jail. If one of these homeless kids would steal $100 in goods from any store there is a good chance they'd have to sit in a jail cell for a while.

These trips were muchore valuable, toss all of them in jail for a month at least

I was only ever there to follow a wide variety of parody star trek accounts which were hilarious and thought provoking.

They're all gone, now that musk is doing his thing. Twitter was cancer, now it's terminal bullshit and I've deleted it long ago

Within the same building? Restaurants and bars and shops.at the bottom, services like doctors, and offices at the first few floors, then living space above that.

Also, good city zoning

Also, focus on people, not cars.

If they start doing that, and only that, no police officer will ever see a pension ever again within a month

Start giving police officers actual training. You know, teach them how to deescalate, how to actually use a gun (because they don't even know that part) but also teach them to let go.

High speed chases may look cool but they endanger the innocent until found guilty suspect and hundreds of innocent bastards, none of those chases are worth it. Let them go, catch them later safely using actual police investigation work.

Guns may look cool but they kill at a distance and are a high risk for all bystanders, they should be a last resort, not a first resort.

Also, mgive police officers a mandatory psychological evaluation, filter out the psychopaths and the racists. Those you don't want in a force that needs to protect and serve.

A lot more improvements can be and should be made, but you get the picture

This obviously has in part to do with the toxic American gun culture and it's corrupt and untrained police, but alsonwoth it's misguided need for what it thinks is justice, and revenge for real or imagined crimes.

Shoplift something small? In you go with hardened criminals to punish punish punish, fuck you for daring to do that! No rehabilitation, just punish

A lot of Americans complain about low prison sentences in Europe, not understanding that the focus there is on actually solving the problem of crime, instead of revenge, revenge, revenge.

In what universe would that be?

Switch to Linux, get it over with, get rid of the Microsoft bullshit

From reading the story it sounds like the guy wasn't trying to kill the teen, he's just a giant irresponsible dumbass who should never had a gun in the first place, making all of them victims of the toxic US gun culture
