Kind of like what happened after the initial violence in the fall of the roman republic. It started with sword point power grabs, but as time went on, they stopped ever trying to get any power back into the senate, and eventually bled out so much power that we don't even know when the last meeting was. They just became so irrelevant.

They have always wanted to break the government. They are okay with what's happening, they knew it was going to happen, and they wanted to continue.

This is the party w/ daddy issues. These are the people that were praising that "Daddy's home and he has his belt off".

So it doesn't matter who they are cucking for, as long as they have the right affiliations and hate the same set of people.

Like with any dictatorship they'll always change the plot.

Why would they give a shit? They get paid to do nothing. All they have to do is let Elon and Trump do whatever the fuck they want and they get to insider trade and suck on the teat of the taxpayer all while getting the best healthcare in the country for free for life. Our system of governing is a joke.

Which will work fine until they are no longer needed. Once they've given all their power to the fascists, they'll suddenly find themselves very much redundant.

They'll continue to be empty suits with the illusion of power and actual wealth...

They're not gonna consider that a bad result. They don't want to govern let alone know how..

Don't act like all we need to do is sit back and wait and karma will do the hard work for us.

Exactly this Russia still has elections and an "opposition". You can still be in control without necessarily being in the presidential position just as Putin was while Prime Minister after running out of terms.

In France the answer would have been: because otherwise there would be widespread demonstrations, strikes and eventually riots.

republicans want an oligarchy

[–] [email protected] 20 points 18 hours ago

Republicans are the oligarchy

[–] [email protected] 28 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

they'll get cast aside soon enough.. the new emperor doesn't need a congress.. or a legislative branch of government.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 16 hours ago

I think they'll be kept around for the appearance of democracy. I recently learned that even North Korea maintains opposition parties, which of course have no power.

"I don’t think he’s cutting into congressional power,” Sen. Mike Crapo

RIP Satire

Trump is doing a tariff dance in the press to manipulate the market, while Fuhrer Musk is taking control of the actual power in government, the purse strings.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 hours ago

Ahh first time I've seen him called Fuhrer musk. Gonna have to adopt that

[–] [email protected] 6 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Traitors history will remember them

[–] [email protected] 2 points 7 hours ago

Only if the lose...

[–] [email protected] 7 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

They're forced to follow Trump lockstep

Musk is backed by Trump

Musk does whatever he wants as long as he doesn't piss off Trump

[–] [email protected] 23 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Musk is backed by Trump

I hear you, but I think you have the power dynamic backwards on this section

[–] [email protected] 7 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago)

It's the only dynamic that matters to Republicans

Republicans step out of line with Trump, Trump uses his MAGA mob to force them in line or they're out

[–] [email protected] 0 points 18 hours ago

They didn't have the power before
