Comes across as a snide non-apology to me. Regardless of whether an apology or whatever is warranted, the phrasing here sounds nothing like an apology if that's what you’re going for

theres not a huge amount of content posted per minute across all instances. And it seems theres no rate limit in some places for how much can be posted. So a huge batch of stuff is just dumped into a community and it appears in a block in all/new

But thats what I seem to be misunderstanding- all of that is specifically the persistent storage?

Are you just describing a live boot OS with persistent storage, or am I missing something?

I am traveling from the UK to USA for a few months, my first stop being New York City for a few weeks over Christmas and New Years.

Generally speaking, what is the weather like? What would be appropriate clothing? I think it snows often, so I was assuming some waterproof shoes / boots would be sensible at least.

Currently in filters and blocks, all the “Add instance/community/user” are at the bottom of the list. I have a large filter list requiring a lot of scrolling to reach the bottom.

Would it be possible to have this at the top instead?

Alternatively, when selecting a community to block (vis the menu) is there a way to block the whole instance that community is hosted on? Primary use to block instances that are non-english.

Seemingly the functionality for setting languages is never used, and a large portion of my new feed is from instances that are language specific (and not the language I speak).

I have set my language to English + Undefined, but it seems no one else can/will set their languages for their posts (leaving them as undefined).

I would like to bulk add these to my blocked instance. I know how to do this.

My question is just - is there a list of instance + language covering the main federated instances?

Solely because I can’t read anything but English, I keep blocking foreign language communities as its just noise for me. But I have selected Undefined/English as my languages in settings.

It seems the language choice is never used by communities and posts? All of the .de instance posts seem to be “undefined” language. If they selected a specific language which matches their post language, it wouldn’t show up on my feed, right?

And currently there isn’t a way to block whole instances as a user, as far as I understand.

Will I have to just continuously hide foreign language communities as a user?

I’m not suggesting defederating or anything like that, just making my own feed less “noisy”

The second time now I’ve had the honour of seeing Metallica play live. The set list was incredible, James Hetfields’ voice blew me away as it always does. So much presence.

I was glad they played a few songs I’ve not heard live before - Until It Sleep and Whisky in the Jar.

Whole experience was an 11/10

Best bit - turns out people living 15 miles away were calling the police with noise complaints because of Metallica being so loud!

Rock! The! Fuck! On!

This isn’t a criticism, just something I’m thinking about. I’m so excited for this game.

Fallout is a game where the world went to war and destroyed each other, annihilation through a nuclear apocalypse.

Does anyone else view Starfield as an alternate future for that same world? Instead of destroying ourselves, instead we have managed to visit and explore space. To develop and grow as a planet?

So hyped!
