Be warned:

If you find yourself getting angry (or god forbid, agreeing) with something Anon has said, you might be doing it wrong.

Anons grandfather is extremely based

[–] [email protected] 80 points 5 months ago

And heart medication pilled.

[–] [email protected] 34 points 5 months ago (4 children)

Anon’s grandfather should know there’s a human at the other end of all internet interactions and they deserve some respect too.

[–] [email protected] 45 points 5 months ago

This is a pretty common style of humor among older people IRL, I feel like? The problem isn't that he isn't thinking of them as people, the problem is that since they can't see him laugh at their reaction they never get let in on the joke, which is an important part of the difference between joking and trolling.

[–] [email protected] 36 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Eh, sounds like he is just doing some harmless trolling, I dont think that's disrespectful. Basically the internet equivalent of a prank

[–] [email protected] 34 points 5 months ago (2 children)

Yeah, this sounds like Ken M style pranking. Just playing the fool for some laughs. No one gets hurt, and some people might get a fun story out of it. This is what pranks are supposed to be.

Thank you! I don't think I'd seen all of those. This one has always been my fave:

[–] [email protected] 9 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (1 children)

Thanks for sharing that, i've never seen that one! Ken M is a gem lol

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago

Absolutely! He's just got this special sort of naivety that I find hilarious.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Is he still active?

This is one of the best I've seen so far.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago

I haven't seen anything new in years. This one has to be at least a good 5 to 10 years old, as I think it may have been among the first I'd ever seen.

No one gets hurt

Depending on what was said, misinformation can absolutely cause harm, either directly or indirectly.

Hall monitors are the most unlikable people on earth

[–] [email protected] 11 points 5 months ago

Thanks, /u/SatansMaggotyCumFart.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 5 months ago (2 children)

Yeah. Being an asshole is easy.

The first troll didn't know the term troll. It's not a unique idea.

Trolling to get a rise out of upsetting people has been linked to mental illness.

Some trolls are just shit communicators and are too stupid to recognize the wake of their discourse. Gramps doesn't appear to be one of those.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 5 months ago (1 children)

The internet could be so much nicer if we all just treated people the way we wanted to be treated.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 5 months ago (1 children)

except I like being trolled too. not everyone thinks the same

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Some people like having their nuts stepped on but I'm not doing that to everyone I meet.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 months ago (1 children)

So maybe it's less about treating people they way you want to be treated, and more about treating people they way they want to be treated?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Maybe I could get them to fill out an engagement survey.

I should check with my focus group.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Funny, but don't you think it's worth making the distinction?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I don't know, what is the answer that you would want?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (1 children)

I think it's important to consider other people's perspectives. What about you, would you agree?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I wouldn’t want to force my answer on anyone that hasn’t filled out my engagement survey yet.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (1 children)

Sharing your opinion isn't the same as "forcing your answer." You can't expect other people to treat you the way you want to be treated if you aren't willing to engage in open conversation.

And if this is just a weak attempt at trolling, I'd suggest spending some time on 4chan. They could teach you a thing or two...

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I’m just trying to have a friendly conversation with you, there’s absolutely no need to be throwing baseless accusations my way.

It’s behavior like this that is making the internet a hostile place.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

OK buddy, whatever you say.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Did I do something to offend you?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Not at all. I hope something good happens to you today.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 months ago (2 children)

Thanks.

I was just checking because you came across as very condescending even though I tried to defuse the situation with some light humor.

I guess I was misreading it.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago

I saw what you were doing and appreciated it.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

That was humor? Must have gone over my head, I thought you were being serious.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago

I knew I should have workshopped that some more, thank you for your feedback.

Are you assuming my emotional reaction to any of this?

Sounds like you've got a case of the stupids.

[–] [email protected] 73 points 5 months ago
[–] [email protected] 46 points 5 months ago

It's amazing how often people assume behavior like trolling started with the Internet. That shit has been around forever.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 5 months ago (1 children)

This one's a classic, and I reread it with the same feeling as I get listening to a song I like.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 months ago (3 children)

Am I stupid or this not from two years ago? Your post made it sound like it was from 2002 or something

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago

It's from 1922, of course!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago

Oh, so it is, haha. The date's in the screenshot. I was under the impression it's much older though!

Plot twist: The second Anon is the grandfather.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 5 months ago

Fake and gay. In celebration of gay month! (Also a day or 2 set aside for black people at some point)

[–] [email protected] 14 points 5 months ago

Strangely wholesome

[–] [email protected] 12 points 5 months ago

Why would someone who posts in 4chan be ashamed of someone trolling?

[–] [email protected] 8 points 5 months ago

He's rustling some jimmies!

[–] [email protected] 6 points 5 months ago

ashamed?! I'd be proud as fuck!
