I thought that these personality tests had been debunked?

We had the myers briggs test back in the day, and I've heard on couple podcasts that these tests (including MB) are highly questionable.

As it happens, the latest maintenance phase podacst is about the MB test:

Not listened yet, but will.

On a related note, I host the Guardian to gopherspace here: gopher://theunixzoo.co.uk/1/the-guardian

Sadly that's what the human race does. It's nothing unique to nuclear power.

It still baffles me, for example, that with all this technology, we still generate all this rubbish which we then bury in the ground. And we all know it. We all buy things in disposable packaging. We are all complicit.

The care and maintenance stage is part of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) decommissioning strategy and spans an 80+ year period. This waiting period allows for radiation levels within the reactor core to decline and helps to facilitate a smoother demolition process. Dungeness A is due to enter the care and maintenance phase in 2027. Demolition of reactor buildings and final site clearance is planned for 2088 to 2098

It's an amazing place. I visited last month. You can overlook the power station from a nearby lighthouse.

When reading about dungeness reactor i learned that even reactors that haven't melted down also take about a hundred years to decommission safely.

Another interesting stat I heard on a podcast is that the coal industry has proven much more deadly than the nuclear industry in terms of human lives lost.

Can you side load on ios?

Seems like the kind of thing they wouldn't want you to do?

[–] [email protected] 30 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I have an android DAP (music player) that runs Android 7. It's a box with a headphone jack (remember those?) and it's sole purpose is to play offline music from an SD card.

I side-loaded a few music players, because there's no way I'm putting my Google password in android 7 in 2024.

I'd be upset if I couldn't side load. These DAPs never have an up to date android.

Let's hope the music apps I use don't block sideloading.

Poweramp won't. Musicolet?

The industry programmed everyone to pay silly amounts for a ring.

Never buy from a seller with no feedback or sales.

Raw (lemmy.sdf.org)

Hi,

Any of you folks know about EDPM vs Fibreglass roofing.

I need to make a choice for a property extension in the UK. I expect rain, a few hot days, more rain, more rain, and some ice.

The roof won't be load bearing (people won't be walking on it).

Seems like every other website has differing opinions on what's best. I guess because everyone is selling something.

Any impartial opinions on what you'd use?

Cheers

Hey folks,

How do you clean the shave soap scum off of your razor?

It can be quite tricky, especially in knurling.

I've tried using an old toothbrush with vinegar, but this isn't very effective. I've wondered if Isopropyl would work, or if it's too harsh.

Cheers

Hi wet shave dudes,

I've been shaving my head with a DE razor for a few years now. I've had a few cheap £20 razors, but they don't seem to last me very long.

On one the butterfly mecanism broke. My next was a 3 piece, which I dropped and the chrome chipped off. They were both Parker razors.

After some research, seems the way to go for durability is steel, but steel razors (e.g. rockwell 6s) tend to be above £100.

I'm not sure I'd be OK dropping that kind of money, so I wanted to ask: is there a good durable DE around £50?

Some razors are marketed as "tripple chromed". Are they any better?

Cheers

I don't like gravel. That's it.

  • noisy
  • scatters all over the neighborhood.
  • hard to walk on
  • dogs and cats crap in it
  • kids chuck it around and put it in their mouth.
  • doesn't even look good.
  • difficult and heavy to remove once you have come to terms will all of the above.

Gravel advocates... explain your case for gravelling your garden/drive.

Gravel sceptics, feel free to share your distaste.

Hi fediverse,

When using the Prime Video app on my Toshiba android TV, durring playback every so often a glitchy frame flashes past.

The frame is usually a corrupted mess of pink, black and white. Needless to say: very bloody annoying.

Stuff that I tried so far:

  • disable subtitles
  • disable hdr in prime app settings
  • pausing and unpausing
  • clear app cache
  • curse crappy TV OS and cry

Other ideas that are more effort:

  • clear app data and start afresh
  • try a separate chromecast

Any ideas before I try those? Thanks

I recently had to migrate my team's CI from Bors-NG to Github Merge Queues. In this post I share my experience in doing so.

I was gifted a SAK a while ago. Originally the scales were camo, which made it hard to find when dropped in grass. I didn't use it much for fear of losing it.

So gave it new yellow scales, the plus ones that add the pen slot, then added the pen, a red pin and and corkscrew screwdriver.

Put it on a hi-vis nylon cord for good measure.

This is gonna be my new camping companion!
