Where's it going next?

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

When you run httptap -- , httptap runs in an isolated network namespace, injecting a certificate authority created on-the-fly in order to decrypt HTTPS traffic. Here is the process in detail:

In linux, there is a kernel API for creating and configuring network interfaces. Conventionally, a network interface would be a physical ethernet or WiFi controller in your computer, but it is possible to create a special kind of network interface called a TUN device. A TUN device shows up to the system in the way that any network interface shows up, but any traffic written to it will be delivered to a file descriptor held by the process that created it. Httptap creates a TUN device and runs the subprocess in an environment in which all network traffic is routed through that device.

Beijing has strengthened its trade agreements across Africa, South America and South East Asia. It is now the largest trading partner of more than 120 countries.

Thank you. I was curious, but not that curious.

For me, Sync is still working well enough. I periodically dip into other apps, but Sync is still my go to.

I'm guessing that jdlawson won't be able to recover his costs on Sync for much longer. I'm hoping he open sources it.

which is diametrically opposed to the 60's and 70's still post war boom(ers) ..., when their own rent was either ... cost them $200 a month and their University tuition another $500 a year

I think this is it. The cost of living was lower, so Boomers could get by without selling out. The attitude continued into the 1990s and early 2000s until it became harder and harder to lead a comfortable life on a modest paycheque.

It was shitty, but now we know what came next, so it seems less scary than our current uncertain future.

Hiding ideas in text so dense it requires a Babel fish to understand won't bring many people with us.

The word "save" localized appropriately.

Solutions don't need to be easy or bite sized, but they do need to be explained in a way that people want to read.

Burying them in dense text is one step away from putting them on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying "Beware of the Leopard."

I got suckered. I saw some posts about how men don't take care of their skin, and how it has more of an effect as we age. So I thought, what's the harm? Let's give it a try!

Welp, after five days of putting a tiny bit of moisturiser on my face, I have a couple of tiny pimples on my nose. I haven't had zits in decades, and here we are. I stopped applying the moisturiser a couple of weeks ago and I'm still getting those zits.

Thanks skincare.

I was one of a group of Just Stop Oil activists given the longest-ever UK sentences for peaceful motorway. Six months into my incarceration, this is what I have learned

Not directly related to climate change, but Just Stop Oil has been in the news a lot.

I'm looking for an electric heater for my office. Ideally it'd be really quiet. The office is well insulated, so it doesn't need to get too hot.

Can you recommend a brand and model?

Recipe app (sh.itjust.works)

I remember someone posting a great Android recipe app a while ago, but I can't remember the name of it.

The feature that caught my interest was being able to download a recipe from free form pages.

Anyone got a suggestion?

I try to collect conversation starters so I have things to talk about with people I like.

Some of them are general and work on anyone, like: "I'm moving soon!" or "how was your weekend?" or "did you see that ludicrous display last night?". Others deal with shared interests or common friends, so they're person specific.

What's a word to describe collecting conversation starters? Borrowing from other languages is legit.

It's good to see some kinda/sorta/almost direct spending on affordable housing being announced:

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the creation of a $1.5-billion rental protection fund that will provide a combination of loans and grants to help non-profits buy affordable rental apartments when they go up for sale.

It's nowhere near enough, but it's better than the neoliberal tHe FrEe MaRkEt WiLl SaVe Us shoveling that both the Liberals and Conservatives have been pushing.

The article explains how the number of homes affordable to people making $30k annually is crashing across the country (but less so in Quebec).

What you should not do:

Experts have for years pointed out that’s a bad idea – and now Apple is officially warning users not to do it.

“Don’t put your iPhone in a bag of rice. Doing so could allow small particles of rice to damage your iPhone,” the company says in a recent support note spotted by Macworld. Along with the risk of damage, testing has suggested uncooked rice is not particularly effective at drying the device.

What you should do:

If your phone isn’t functioning at all, turn it off right away and don’t press any buttons. The next steps depend on your specific circumstances, but broadly speaking: dry it with a towel and put it in an airtight container packed with silica packets if you have them. Don’t charge it until you’re sure it’s dry.

This is one of those tips that sounds cheap, but I've really enjoyed it.

Instead of lemonade, put a drop of lemon (or lemon concentrate) in water. It's most of the taste, but you aren't drinking a tonne of sugar. I use this to add a bit of flavour to my water in WFH.

Edit: fixed typo. Thanks Jeff.
