I never said we shouldn't use algorithms I just think what those algorithms were doing could be different.

Maybe, I'm not sure because I don't really have much knowledge on self-hosting. I did find this on their website though so you could start here:

Does it have to be online? If not then you can try LibreOffice Impress. Otherwise not sure.

Hey I'm sorta curious, do you have any insight on what the protesters plan on doing next? Especially with the army declaring an interim government and all that.

Like is there some plan on how to make sure the movement doesn't die down or get co-opted like other movements have?

As an example below you can see a spike in the usage of the word "weird" recently that probably is related to how people are now calling republicans weird.

Conscious control and awareness over all bodily functions (when I want it if I don't then I can ignore it to the point where it is automatic again.)

I ask because the party that is in power is considered a party that comes from fascist roots.

Edit: So I'm guessing you don't consider it as fascist because the government isn't being run in an authoritarian way not necessarily because of what the party's roots and politicians in that party believe.

This is a science paper from 2015 that shows the corporate control over contrarian discourse around efforts to stop climate change.

This is a map of the internet that was made in 2011. I'm trying to find one that is newly updated.

I know of this one: https://www.halcyonmaps.com/map-of-the-internet-2021/

but it seems to be a bit too metaphorical and not detailed enough for me.

Edit: Changed title to be more accurate.

Also here is the summary from Wikipedia on what Post-scarcity means:

Post-scarcity is a theoretical economic situation in which most goods can be produced in great abundance with minimal human labor needed, so that they become available to all very cheaply or even freely. Post-scarcity does not mean that scarcity has been eliminated for all goods and services but that all people can easily have their basic survival needs met along with some significant proportion of their desires for goods and services. Writers on the topic often emphasize that some commodities will remain scarce in a post-scarcity society.

Capitalism is a game where only a few people get to win.

We have also seen time and time again that it is a game that is able to manipulate and change whatever ideology or behaviour you have to work towards its own benefit.

So the only way to actually "win" is to not play the game.

Right now that seems impossible because it is a massive collective action problem, however this whole platform is a testament to show that it's possible to overcome that kind of problem.

Reddit is a dominant platform that is starting to destroy itself. People are in turn finding alternatives such as Lemmy to satisfy the need that Reddit once did.

I view capitalism in the same way. It will never truly completely cease to exist (the same way Digg never truly died), but it can become irrelevant over time if we collectively decide to just use another system to satisfy the same needs that capitalism is satisfying today.

The one example that I can think of that tries to tackle this problem is the idea of free stores that are based on a gift economy. If more people decided to use this system instead of capitalism then capitalism will have less sway over people's lives.

And in the end it doesn't have to be specifically a free store that needs to be adopted by wider society but whatever it is does need to satisfy the same basic need that capitalism does in our current society.

This is the definition I am using:

a system, organization, or society in which people are chosen and moved into positions of success, power, and influence on the basis of their demonstrated abilities and merit.

Rules:

  1. The time traveller is able to travel backward and forward through time (max forward is 2074) and they can only transport things that can fit in a small backpack.

  2. You can choose when the 3 hours begin but it has to be in 2024 and once it has begun the timer can't be reset or stopped.

  3. They will answer to the best of their ability but imagine this is a random person from 2074.
