Yeah this is straight up illegal. The FTC and EU don’t give a shit if this was “just a test” or “a whoopsie doopsie.”

Big ol’ fine incoming for every day this isn’t fixed.

It's actually fairly simple. If a user notices a post in their feed from an account they don't follow, they can simply click or tap on the three dot icon located in the upper right-hand corner of the specific post. This will open a drop-down menu.

However, if the post is an ad, this menu provides additional options. ... "Not interested in this ad," ... "Report ad" ... "Why this ad?"

You bet your ass that they are going to get rid of those options.

I noticed people have been putting community notes on ads, I wonder how long that's going to last.

[–] [email protected] 34 points 1 year ago

I give it until Tuesday.

[–] [email protected] 27 points 1 year ago (1 children)

i don’t want to bet my ass :(

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Don't worry, I already bet your ass for you.

Thanks to the power of smart contracts and NFTs, the community can now bet your ass for you in faster-than-real-time

Crime crimers doing crimes.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 year ago

Oh, commit a crime? Just commit a crime? Why don't i strap on my crime helmet and squeeze down into a crime cannon and fire off into crime land, where crimes grow on crimees!

[–] [email protected] 95 points 1 year ago

Only a true genius could have taken that failing company and transformed it it into the criminally failing company that it is today.

[–] [email protected] 76 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I wonder if this is a bug not a feature. Since, ya know, 90%(?) of the workforce was essentially forced out

[–] [email protected] 63 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (6 children)

The bug is the feature. Firing 90% of the company doesn't just save you a ton of money, and doesn't just trim the fat or rot of a company. It removes any dissidents and skeptics who don't have total, unwavering, boot-licking loyalty. Even Musk fanboys were likely forced out just for questioning whether it was a good idea to fire 90% of them. The slightest hint of independent critical thinking is snuffed out by force, or leaves the company voluntarily when they see the writing on the wall, or they are merely unable to leave.

What else could that maneuver possibly produce except a small army of sycophants?

And then once you have those sycophants, it doesn't matter whether you make good or bad decisions, you will never ever be challenged on them. You don't have to worry about how your orders become reality or if you break any laws along the way, your gang ~~of losers~~ will make it happen and won't ask for a penny of overtime pay.

Hanlon's Razor is dead, at least as applied to Musk, because the malice and stupidity are one and the same.

EDIT: Consideration for H1B

Hanlon's Margin of Error

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

Hanlon's razor always sucked was always a literal joke. But I'm glad to see someone else realize it shouldn't be taken seriously.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You do realize that a lot of employeess that stayed at Twitter after Musk's take over did so because their work visas were tied to the occupation and otherwise they would have had to leave the country on short notice?

It takes work to make it go away.

Is this company still worth "billions" with a b?

[–] [email protected] 26 points 1 year ago (1 children)

With a b, probably. With an s, less clear.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (2 children)

If you ask the people remaining on it, it's with a "t".
If you ask everybody else...

I think it's worth like $16 billion now? Which compared to the $44 billion purchasing price is... does caculations not good

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I thought I just saw in the last day or so that it could actually be worth as little as $4B now.

These days whenever there is a new change on Twitter's UI, I'm not sure if it's a bug or intentional feature.

[–] [email protected] 39 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Later, Musk tweets that they were just doing to a test to collect data. Because they want to prove that having to label them is bad and destroys engagement.

Someone ping me if this happens.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I would love to see him blatantly admit to illegal activity

meh, if youre still using this dying platform, i kinda think its on you at this point.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 year ago (2 children)

This is exactly why I haven’t updated the app in months. I don’t see all the shitty changes, my Twitter is still Twitter and I can easily block all the advertisements.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 year ago

why not just stop using twitter?
