Nah, I'll happily take a disillusioned Republican who want to fight. The more the merrier, really. They're in no position for a redemption arc but still it's good to have them on our side right now
Why? So they can betray you at a critical junction to claim power for themselves, or so you can betray them without feeling too guilty about it?
Because you sure as hell can't work with them on any leftist projects. They have zero desire to unconcentrate the accumulated power in Washington, only to claim it for themselves.
I'm not interested in building a bridge here, it's too little too late for that.
But hearing the other team's fans booing their coach? I'm here for it.
The problem is we have to build bridges. We have to get the working classes organized to stop this. We cannot afford to turn away allies.
Build bridges with the voters, not Mike Pence or any other Republican politicians who changed sides too late.
I think the Democratic strategists said the same thing in 2024. And that's part of how we got here.
I'm not advocating for parading Pence around as one of us. Any republican speaking out against Trump is a good thing, we need the party to fracture as much as possible.
He already was essentially kicked off the party. IMO the old Republican party died with McCain.
Of course I welcome any opposition, but to MAGA Pence is perceived as another Democrat.
True but a LOT of Trump voters aren't MAGA. They voted for him the same way I've voted since 2016 - begrudgingly.
The next election would be a really good time to campaign on ranked choice/approval voting. We're reaching fever pitch with voter disillusionment.
He’s got nothing to lose and secret service protection. And he has no power to do shit to stop Trump either. He just has some shitty podcast that not one reasonable person should have to listen to.
Edit: autocorrect is shit
That secret service protection, for one. Trump's pulled protection from John Bolton and others. Maybe because he was VP it might be harder legally for Trump to revoke it, but is there anyone still enforcing laws anymore?
