I'm not sure if this counts, but I've enjoyed some pieces from The Conversation. They're detailed and written by someone who has experience in the subject

Now that they mention it, I would like step-by-step instructions on how a Fierce Burrito is made

On point 1:

This particular community (AMA) was created on lemmy.ca, which is an instance of lemmy hosted in Canada, but everyone is free to use it! We have a lot of general communities like that, in addition to the ones specific to Canada

The user was likely just curious if you moved, you're fine to post here or any lemmy.ca community :)

No problem!

It's hard to tell what the community is about from just the name alone

You could try posting in [email protected] as well!

St. John's Wort

if you take literally any other medicine, please do not take it. It interferes with basically every other drug out there

Thanks for including that! The link below has some more information on common interactions.

The list below includes some recognized interactions. However, other drugs may also interact with St. John's wort. Check with your doctor before using St. John's wort in combination with any other drugs, especially prescription medications.

Wow this is a cool photo, do you have more details for it?

Actually the reverse search got some more: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helen_Konek

Konek is an elder,[7][1] and lives in Arviat, Nunavut.

Very cool, thank you for sharing!

Research and organized information on a topic, however obvious it might be, is an important step towards policy changes. We also see those changes from time to time, for example some recent EU decisions

Saw this post on another site:

If you previously did not our mini announcement HomeBox was archived by the original author. We are working to continue the project ourselves. This release is mostly just switching things over to our namespace and getting a docker image published for people to switch over to, but also contains some minor bug fixes.

What is HomeBox

Homebox is the inventory and organization system built for the Home User! With a focus on simplicity and ease of use, Homebox is the perfect solution for your home inventory, organization, and management needs. While developing this project, with the the following principles in mind:

  • Simple - Homebox is designed to be simple and easy to use. No complicated setup or configuration required. Use either a single docker container, or deploy yourself by compiling the binary for your platform of choice.
  • Blazingly Fast - Homebox is written in Go, which makes it extremely fast and requires minimal resources to deploy. In general idle memory usage is less than 50MB for the whole container.
  • Portable - Homebox is designed to be portable and run on anywhere. We use SQLite and an embedded Web UI to make it easy to deploy, use, and backup.

v0.11.0 Changes

Contributing

We are accepting any type of contribution, including bug reports, feature requests, PRs, etc. if your interested. We firmly believe that open source software lives and dies by its community, and we're hoping that you'll join us on this journey as we figure things out and make HomeBox great.

For Those Switching

If your planning to switch from the original image to this one, please make sure you backup your existing data. And then you can simply switch the docker image to ours, and all of your data should be right where you left it when you start the docker container.

TELL META: Don't Kill Your Crucial Transparency Tool, CrowdTangle!

Meta has announced it will be abandoning CrowdTangle, its industry leading transparency tool, this August - in the middle of the biggest election year on record.

CrowdTangle is used by thousands of researchers, journalists and advocates to monitor political disinformation and hate speech on Facebook and Instagram.

The decision to kill this crucial tool without an equivalent replacement couldn’t come at a worse time: Elections affecting approximately half of the world’s population are taking place this year. Meta’s irresponsible decision poses a direct threat to our ability to safeguard the integrity of these elections - but we can still stop it.

Sign the petition now to call on Meta to maintain CrowdTangle during this critical period of elections worldwide to protect election integrity in 2024 and beyond!

I'm asking for Android specifically, but I'm curious what else is out there.

For example, some apps work without internet but may use it if it's available. I might want to block that without having to turn off wifi, force stopping it, and wiping the cache/data.

Similarly, maybe I only want to use the app over a VPN and want to prevent accidentally opening it without first turning the VPN on.

Might be helpful for those that

  • don't have access to hardware that can run things locally
  • understand the benefits and limitations of generative AI
