Thanks to this guide I've stopped banging my head against the wall trying to install Arch on a laptop and just ended up putting Mint on it. Nearly everything works out of the box, and Cinnamon seems to be close enough to what a Windows user would expect, and then some, seeing how customizable it is.
I'll bang my head against the wall again once I've familiarized myself with it.

We have at least 8 public holidays though, 10 if you are in BC or ON where majority of people live.
.... Is what I wanted to respond with, but then I checked the previous two countries I lived at in Europe, and found that I'd have 10 in Hansestadt Hamburg and 11 in Hungary.
In Hungary I'd also get 34 vacation days per year, non transferable to next year, based on my age and number of children. 37 days if I had a third kid. Would also get 15 days of sick days paid at 70% rate, disbursed by the government.
