Muhammed had a 9yo wife (but it's "totally cool" because he didn't fuck her until she was 11, I'm assured...), it's not just Christianity.

Also iirc people had babies about once a year starting around 14 until they died at 30 of any number of causes, and that's if they made it past infancy since the infant mortality rate was so high, which was also why people had like 20 kids. Frankly it's relatively recently that the standards we know today were put in place, and I'm happy for the strides we've made but there's still room for improvement, but this type of shit happened by all religions for most of recorded history and probably before that until like, 19xx.

I'm with you. My only theory is that saguaros usually have their arms up, and so he's being a contrarian by putting them down? All I got lol idk.

Being the best you can be implies resisting temptation for junk foods.

Debatable. Personally to me someone's qualifications for "best" or "worst" are pretty far divorced from food choice, since I'm not a vegan who ties morality to consumption. Hell my grandma would say he killed that "best" goal for himself the second he got a tattoo lol.

Other people have already given the answers I'd have said, so I'll say this:

When you do collect enough of the "banned" books to warrant a torrent, create one and share it widely so kids can find em. Something that mentions "banned books" so it'll be easily findable if someone searches that.

That said: they're not really banned in the like actual sense of the word. They're not banned from being sold, nor bought, nor read, nor owned, and afaik nobody is raiding publishers with rifles and making mass burn pits of books. They're banned from most schools and some public libraries. The public libraries I agree is egregious but tbf, most of the ones I looked into would have been banned in my school too, and not because "gay" but for stuff like the blowjob scene in a graphic novel, if that scene, which I've been corrected on multiple times, (it wasn't technically a blowjob it was "strap on play," but) "graphic depictions of strap on play" between straight couples would be similarly banned. Most of the other "banned" ones with no pictures say some naughty words, and IMO that's a piss poor reason to ban something, but it is consistent that whether the person saying "fuck" is gay or straight it's going to be banned for the word "fuck." Hell back in my day they wanted to ban To Kill A Mockingbird because it says the N-word (and that btw was the progressives not the conservatives, pearl clutching at supposed racism despite that literally being an anti-racist book.)

Again, not saying I agree with banning books in schools, fuck it if they want they should have copies of 50 Shits of Grey in elementary schools imo, I'm a fan of disseminating information, but it is being unilaterally enforced and "straight profanity" isn't allowed either.

The tags themselves are artistic, it's

A) Modern calligraphy

And

B) A statement of existence, an "I was here," which is a super common basis for art.

There's an entire culture behind it too.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 21 hours ago

One can (well, two, one for the outline) will get you two throws max, maybe like 10 tags with an NY fat.

And they do make smaller cans, assuming Krylon ShortCuts still exist, and there's always the MTN pocket cans, but those are available in less colors. Still female cans though so no adapter needed!

I'm with you, with a small exception: the only thing I can eat from there is the "Spicy Potato Soft Taco" which isn't even a little spicy but it only has potatoes, cheese, and some weird aioli looking sauce, it's not too bad. Better if you take em home and heat em up in the toaster oven, then hit them with the Choloula Garlic.

I mean, alright if you insist! Sounds like a fun date idea.

"C'mere Susan, let's roll up and then roll over in the clover."

Well shit, nevermind!

And !comicstrips is a space that is here for the express purpose of talking about women's issues then? Or do you also believe this should be relegated to !feminists, too?

Hey flipper comm! I just watched the LPL's video on how he bypassed SimpliSafe's door chimes with a 433.92 mhz signal broadcast from a generic remote to basically jam the weak signal output by the chime and bypass the alarm. Apparently it can also be done with a ham radio but they output too high of a signal and trip the radio interference notification on the alarm, and I immediately started wondering if the flipper would trip it or not.

A friend of mine has simplisafe and he said we can test it when I go see him in a couple months, but my problem then becomes "I don't know shit about Sub-gHz > Add Manually." There's so many protocols even just for 433mHz and I have no clue what the difference is between most of them (though I know KL and Security2.0 are rolling code protocols). Does anyone here know anything about them or which protocol it may use, or does it even matter?

Lpl didn't say the brand or I'd search the FCC ID and it seems that the one he used is no longer sold on amazon (probably due to his video haha.) There also seems to be a reddit thread related to flippers and simplisafe but unfortunately I absolutely refuse to install the app to see it.

Any help on the "Add Manually" would be greatly appreciated, I don't want to spend 4hr trying it out manually adding this and that protocol day of, we're gonna have drinking that needs to be done lol.

Hey I figured I'd make a post and see the state of current lemmy appage, since I'm looking for a good one. So far I've used Jerboa, Thunder, Eternity, and Voyager.

Eternity seems to be a dead project, it's full of bugs and hasn't recieved an update since The Exodus

Thunder seems ok and is what I'm using right now, but I can't seem to send direct messages, and can't "Don't blur NSFW preview on NSFW comms" which sucks. The messaging is the dealbreaker for me.

Voyager I used momentarily but the UI was not my favorite.

Jerboa seems OK if unpolished (which is ok to me) but I don't trust the rabid idealogue that makes it and using another instance of his site is one thing, but installing an app is another. Has it been audited to confirm lack of spyware?

Ideally through this I can find one with instance blocking, DMs, and a decent UI. What're your experiences with the current state of lemmy apps?

This week's list is up! Let's see..

Lester of the Lesser Gods #1 - Sounds interesting enough,

"Lester, the larping bastard son of the Odin, wanders the post-apocalyptic wasteland after thwarting Satan’s attempt to bring about the end of days. But can this hero of the downtrodden survive the battle arena of Will Frye the Technomancer Guy."

Minor Threats II The Fastest Way Down #2 - I'm all in on Minor Threats, Patton Oswalt done did it again.

Blood Brothers Mother #1 - "For fans of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly." Well, that's me.

Light week for me it seems, what about you?

Free comic book day, first Sat in May (May 4th 2024)!

Here seems to be a list of the releases, I'll be grabbing

Hellboy

And/or

Tons of strange

What're you grabbing?

Man's Best #2 - I liked #1 a lot, looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Rare Flavours #5 - Ram V is killing it in this one and I love Filepe Andrade's art.

Dawnrunner #2 - Mechs vs ...eldritch kaiju? I'm in.

Operation Sunshine Already Dead #1 - If you missed the first run of Op Sunshine check it out. Made by the Last Podcast On The Left guys Marcus Parks and Henry Zebrowski (aka Gary from Your Pretty Face Is Going To Hell), who also did Soul Plumber. The last run sets up the world and the plan for an Arcane Oceans 11 situation, this run they execute the plan. Art by David Rubin.

Spectregraph #1 - I'll probably pick this up, the dude who does w0rldtr33 is doing it.

Mythologies And Apocrypha #1 - If my shop has it, they usually neglect Fantagraphics.

Six Fingers #3 - Following both sides of this one.

Universal Monsters Black Lagoon #1 - SOLD! And it's Ram V? Sold again.

W0rldtr33 #9 - This series is great!

Honorable Mention: Pooh vs Bambi #1 - What the FUCK?!

"In war there are rules, but the forest has none. Abandoned by his country, betrayed by those he once called family, and hunted by those who want nothing more than to keep him as a trophy, Pooh is on a mission and no amount of honey will sate his thirst-he wants revenge!"

Lotus land #6- Been ok, kinda just finishing it up because I already have the rest.

Blue book 1947 #3 - I like this one, the story of the origins of our alien lore

Batman off world #4 - I love this one, weird little batman series.

Golgotha Motor Mountain #2 - Meth from space turns people into cronenberg monsters. I'm in.

7174AD #1 - Idk shit about it, I'm 100% judging this book by its cover, but it looks interesting.

That's it for me this week, what about you guys?

List is up! Short list for me but one I'm excited about:

Bat-Man First Knight #2 - 1930s The Bat-Man (just had to lable it that way instead of "Batman" huh?) #1 was great!

Beneath The Trees Where Nobody Sees #5 - You know me, love this series

I Hate Fairyland #13 - This one is right up my alley as well

Napalm Lullaby #2 - #1 was ok, not sure I'll stick with it.

What're y'all reading?

A lot this week it looks like, might have to make some cuts, let's see..

Minor Threats II The Fastest Way Down #1- I have loved the first series and The Alternates, gonna keep going on this one. I like Patton Oswalt's writing and the art is great.

Geiger #1- I liked the last series on this one too.

Redcoat #1 - Ghost Machine, shared universe with Geiger and Rook

Rook Exodus #1 - Damn man all in the same week? Can we stagger these?!

Sacrificers #7 - New arc, probably most excited about this one this week, or tied with Minor Threats.

Deadpool #1 - I did read all of Deadpool Vs Cable back in the day, maybe I pick this up.

They went easy on me this week!

Primer #1 - I totally didn't used to write graffiti so I'm definitely not intrigued by the cover. We'll see, if she's more bomber than "street artist" I'll be picking this up.

Six Fingers #2 - I think I prefer The One Hand so far but it's really cool having both sides. The One Hand (Ram V) follows the detective, The Six Fingers (Other Guy) follows the murderer.

That's it! Thankfully, because next week might be kinda heavy. What're you pullin'?

Lotus Land #5 - Been pretty good, almost over may as well finish it.

Man's Best #1 - Maybe, gonna flip through it. Pets in space.

Dawnrunner #1 - Ram V. All I know, but the cover looks intriguing and Ram V is good

Beneath The Trees Where Nobody Sees #4 - Perhaps my favorite book out right now, if you've been sleeping on this one check out the reprints or trade when it comes out.

Deer Editor #3 - Didn't see that twist coming, this is the last book in series.

That's it for me, what's on your list this week?

Or what has been your go to lately? I'm usually a whiskey and ginger kinda guy but I'm trying to branch out a little these days. What're you drinking?

Currently sipping on a Paloma:

  • 1.5 oz Tequila (blanco)
  • .5oz lime juice
  • 4 oz Grapefruit soda (Jarritos today)
  • Pinch of salt

I'm running out of mullvad in 23hr, and I'm excited to have port forwarding back! Hit a small snag though: I have the acct and have Eddie running on my phone as I type this, however when it comes to my Fedora install I'm paralyzed by choice.

Should I install:

  1. Eddie GUI,

  2. Eddie CLI,

  3. both those,

  4. or "Suite - based on our own AirVPN OpenVPN 3 library?"

I'm pretty comfortable with CLI especially if there's docs (actually prefer it typically), so that isn't really my concern. I'd like wireguard though which I'm not sure if "suite" yet supports, and port forwarding is the most important (slsk) so that would sway my decision as well (if it's only working on Eddie gui or something, for instance.)

My other main concern is I want the ability to auto connect to the VPN during the bootstrap, which "Suite" says it can do with bluetit, but idk if eddie CLI or GUI can do it. Would it be worth it to ditch wireguard until Suite supports it in favor of the bootstrap connection?

Any info at all that y'all have on these clients would be much appreciated, thank you.
