Netherlands it is then.

So the source page just doesn't exist. But https://mapsinterlude.wordpress.com/ does. When you visit it, this post is easily found, but do they list any of their sources? No. I checked a few sites that list top apps by country and just checked Denmark, because that's where I'm from and temu was #8.

This can't be correct. No way people use Signal more than Whatsapp in NL. And Temu, this app Google Play tries to spam you with? Why?

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 18 minutes ago

And Temu, this app Google Play tries to spam you with? Why?

Because Google Play spams you with it, I guess.

[โ€“] [email protected] 20 points 9 hours ago

It is the most downloaded app in 2024

I think most Dutchies already had Whatsapp installed prior to 2024.

[โ€“] [email protected] 7 points 10 hours ago

pretty sure this is bullshit. have seen some other maps on there too. unconvincing stats with no sources.

[โ€“] [email protected] 13 points 12 hours ago

TIL Bulgaria is the best country in Europe

[โ€“] [email protected] 11 points 14 hours ago

Goddamn right Crimea is part of Ukraine.

[โ€“] [email protected] 147 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

That's depressing as fuck.

[โ€“] [email protected] 36 points 22 hours ago

I know. Cheap crap is a stain.

The Netherlands continues to be my top choice for a place to live if I end up fleeing my country. If they'll have me.

It's expensive. Don't forget to buy the floor for your apartment.

Edit: I'm serious about the floor. Apartments don't come with flooring included.

[โ€“] [email protected] 15 points 22 hours ago* (last edited 22 hours ago)

I'm sure a lot of us here can say that's the only one on the map we have

can it though, or just claims to be able to? as I know no apps without root privileges cqn do such things. unless it just searches things in the gallery recycle bin, in which case it is again useless because the gallery app can be used for that

[โ€“] [email protected] 11 points 13 hours ago

Serbia has an itchy delete finger, apparently.

Out of everything the most depressing is Klarna. It's a buy now pay later microloans that should just be forbidden.

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 9 hours ago

We get a lot of advertising for it here in Belgium and tons of webshops support it, sadly. What a trash company.

[โ€“] [email protected] 6 points 14 hours ago

Brainrot generation, here we come!

[โ€“] [email protected] 4 points 13 hours ago

And people say America is doomed, damn.

[โ€“] [email protected] 68 points 22 hours ago (2 children)

Loving Bulgaria. Everybody's doing social networks, meanwhile they're "ooh, a puzzle game!"

[โ€“] [email protected] 4 points 13 hours ago

You know, I mostly hear about how Soviet-looking Bulgaria still is from my family over that way. Everyone playing Tetris adds to that.

[โ€“] [email protected] 33 points 22 hours ago

Temu is more like a capitalism network than a social network, but yeah Chad Bulgaria playing tetris instead of giving into consumerism.

[โ€“] [email protected] 54 points 23 hours ago* (last edited 18 hours ago) (5 children)

People really use temu? I thought it was all crap.

Edit:

[โ€“] [email protected] 27 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

This is most downloaded not most used, so I'd reckon a lot of people heard about it, downloaded it, used it, realised it was all crap, then deleted it.

[โ€“] [email protected] 11 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

People would rather download the app to figure that out than just visit the website? That's still depressing.

But probably temu was like get 50% off your first order via the app or something like that?

Klarna. Why? It is such a shit company.

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 8 hours ago

My card keeping app was bought by Klarna. Had to migrate my account so I could even view them. Turns out Klarna is a bank, so now even deleting my account leaves sensitive information because banks have to keep those.

Also the UI was shit.

[โ€“] [email protected] 13 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

"Wtf is TEMU?"

Oh...

Also, wtf is MA IMA?

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Temu is basically Wish.

Maxima is a Lithuanian retail chain which operates throughout the Baltics.

Only Netherland and Bulgaria can be proud of themselves.

[โ€“] [email protected] 26 points 21 hours ago

Nobody can be as proud of themselves (because of this list I mean) as Lithuania: "LT72 is a website intended to prepare Lithuanian residents for emergencies. It allows residents to learn how to be be prepared for an accident, ..."

Swedish fintech for online payments. A lot of young people go into debts with their "shop now, buy later" function

[โ€“] [email protected] 3 points 15 hours ago (5 children)

So credit card with extra steps?

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 8 hours ago

Credit card with no interest or very very low interest.

It's like lay-away for people old enough to remember that, except you get the product immediately instead of later.

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 11 hours ago

Credit cards are not that wide spread in many parts of Europe opposed to the US. I guess it's more like PayPal with the possibility to pay later. But yes, I also use my debit/credit card for online payment, which is a step more as I have to enter many numbers for that.

[โ€“] [email protected] 3 points 15 hours ago

Layaway without the wait
