Newsom’s look and mannerisms remind me of Christian Bale from American Psycho. I can easily imagine him as a serial killer if he weren’t getting his rocks off as a politician.

These motherfuckers will still be chirping about "cancel culture" while hanging from chains in Trump's gulag.

[–] [email protected] 26 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

gavin newsom is the embodiment of dem rot

that said, democrats have become incredibly toxic. the purity tests continue to eat them alive. stop participating in garbage.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 15 hours ago (2 children)

"Don't be a fascist, rapist, or bigot" isn't a hard test.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 minutes ago

if that were it, and 2 out of three of those weren't incredibly subjective then yeah, i'd agree

the reality is much different. you can call anyone anything you want. keep expecting perfection and you will get nothing done. that doesn't mean we need to turn a blind eye to everyone but it does mean that we should maybe chill the fuck out for three seconds and realize human beings have flaws. the ones throwing the most stones are often giving themselves away anyway so keep slangin

that whole "thing" is not only flawed but is a huge reason why we are down so bad. perpetuating that thinking, you can miss me with that shit.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 hours ago

It's more like:

If you don't 100% support Palestine and don't want to immediately cut off ALL aid to Israel without any forethought or nuance as to what that would actually mean, then you are literally just as bad as the people committing genocide.

Or shit like:

If you positively engage with the Harry Potter franchise at any point, you are literally just as bad as those who lynch trans people.

Or things like:

Literally all landlords are parasites, with no exceptions . If you rent a building, you should be dragged out to the street and shot for selfishly hoarding property.

The worst kind of carpetbagger.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 1 day ago (1 children)

California is full of liberal fash. This dude is the main event.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 21 hours ago

I fucking hate my state for this shit. Acts like we're better than Texas or Florida but still is proudly bigoted and hates the poor.

[–] [email protected] 41 points 1 day ago

He’s completely misreading WHY Democratic numbers are dropping - it’s not because they’re not working closely enough with Republicans; it’s because they’re not treating them as they have us and blocking every single thing they do!

[–] [email protected] 133 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Newsom, a Democrat, has attempted a fresh approach to political divisiveness

Seriously? Lurching to the right and courting republican voters is new, is it? Seems to me it's the same shit democrats have been doing for quite some time. Newsom should just get it over with and change parties.

[–] [email protected] 50 points 1 day ago (2 children)

He doesn't need to switch parties though, the leadership is on board with throwing trans women under the bus and approving GOP spending bills.

[–] [email protected] 37 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yet they can't figure out why the Democrats are considered "toxic" right now, and their ratings are in the shitter.

California isn't loving his schtick. I hope we vote him out in 2026 for governor. We'll see how that works for his presidential asperations. What a moron

[–] [email protected] 27 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He’s term limited so he won’t be running again for Cali anyway

[–] [email protected] 36 points 1 day ago

He's setting up a go at the presidency. He knows that the DNC will want him to lean conservative, but he doesn't want to be painted as flip flopping or pandering, so he's leaning into it early. Now when the GOP inevitably calls him a woke far left extremist (or whatever buzz words they're using by that time) he can point back to this period as proof that he's "always been a centrist" who can appeal to non-MAGA conservatives.

Of course, he and the rest of the DNC haven't figured out yet that conservative voters are NEVER going to vote for the LESS conservative party.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

What the fuck, traitors. Can I have a source so I can look into this?

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Source: Gavin Newsome on Joe Rogan. (I don't know about the spending bills but the trans stuff. it was like 2 or 3 weeks ago I think. Time works differently in a Trump admin.)

[–] [email protected] 22 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Don’t forget that asshole filed an amicus brief supporting the Supreme Court decision that you can arrest homeless people even if they’re only camping outside because there’s no shelter space

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 day ago

He's been consistent about putting the boot into the homeless since he was mayor of SF.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

Is RFK Jr. sharing his alien mind control brain worms with all these other political candidates, or have they always been this garbage?

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 day ago

He's a zionist anyway. We're all full up of genocide apologists. He should leave.

[–] [email protected] 53 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I used to think he was a viable presidential candidate, and he might still be, for non-MAGA Republicans. He's no longer a viable Democratic candidate, though.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

He's a perfect Democratic candidate, and that's the core problem with the party

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

One year ago I would have agreed. I would have loved to see him with Harris as the VP pick.

And now I just regret ever thinking that.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Harris is incredibly unpopular. She was the most or second most unpopular primary candidate in 2020. There are better picks.

[–] [email protected] -3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yes, a year or so ago she was looking fine. Time changes and new info makes me consider new things.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

She's always been a genocidal prosecutor. Never looked "fine".

When this is what the "opposition" looks like, it's no surprise at all that we have fascism.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago

Well, she did look fine to most progressives when she directly supported medicare for all, to be fair. Israel was only committing an apartheid at the time, though. Also, she backtracked because she let other people control her campaign. Familiar...

[–] [email protected] 3 points 21 hours ago

I agree completely, but when she first came onto the scene I had a bit of hope.

Plus I have to censor myself so liberals don't think I'm somehow a Russian bot despite being an anarchist.

Katie Porter is running for California Governor

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 day ago (5 children)

She's pro-Israel. Worth pointing that out. Not sure the government needs more pro-Israel sycophants.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 day ago (2 children)

State governor has a lot less influence on federal matters than house and senate.

Here is a summary of her position:

https://www.politico.com/news/2023/12/18/katie-porter-bilateral-ceasefire-israel-hamas-00132368

[–] [email protected] 3 points 20 hours ago (2 children)

I'm not scared of what she would do when in power. But having the opinion matters. It matters. You shouldn't elect people to lead us who don't treat others like humans. Period.

I won't help get her elected for the same reason I won't help get a member of the KKK elected--and if you can't see the parallel there, then I won't help you get elected, either.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Cool, but if you don’t vote, or vote for someone that doesn’t have a chance of winning, they you basically letting other people decide your fate.

Primary to your hearts content but don’t throw your hands up at the real election. California could do a lot worse than Porter if you allow it to happen.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 18 hours ago

This isn't a "she pro-Israeli, so no one should vote for her" post, like you seem to be implying. I think its important that all voters know that's she's pro-Israel and make their own distinctions.

Those are not even on the same planet as the same....

[–] [email protected] -1 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago) (1 children)

Unironically making a comparison between Katie Porter and the KKK is the most terminally online shit I've seen this year

[–] [email protected] 0 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Your mistake here is to not know or understand what the word "comparison" is.

The most terminally online shit that I've seen this year is you inferring that because two nouns are used in the same sentence then they must be equal. Learn what critical thinking is, and then apply what you've learned. I'll help you later on down the road, I promise.

Israel v. Palestine isn't an entire population of terrorists vs the very innocent Israel whose never done anything wrong in their entire lives, ever. It's a modern genocide. We know that. There are dozens of independent governing bodies who've made this distinction. And I'm sorry if it hurts your sensibilities that I can't advocate for someone who says "maybe we should just drop it! let bygones be bygones!" as if Israel skinned Palestine's knee and isn't actively murdering children and calling them agents of Hamas to legitimize it.

If your brain is that deteriorated, then that's perfectly fine. You're entitled to your vote. But mine isn't, and so am I--and I won't give it to someone who says some insane shit like that.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 hours ago

Please go outside

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

So it's safe to elect a genocidal fash? Sounds like solid advice from the democrats. jfc.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 18 hours ago

It’s ok to want better representation but at the end of the day you must get someone with some of your views elected instead of someone with none of your views elected, or someone with all of your views 2nd place.

Gavin Newsome likes to talk to bigots on his podcast, now wants to call his former party toxic

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 day ago

Gavin is making them even more toxic.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 day ago

So he’s gonna primary Trunk in 2028???

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Hey, only progressives get to criticize the Democratic party. You're way out of line, Newsom.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago

That's not even close to the comment made, but whatever. Newsom has his own take I suppose, but the people have a completely different one. The latter is more important.
