Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

"Don't be a fascist, rapist, or bigot" isn't a hard test.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

if that were it, and 2 out of three of those weren't incredibly subjective then yeah, i'd agree

the reality is much different. you can call anyone anything you want. keep expecting perfection and you will get nothing done. that doesn't mean we need to turn a blind eye to everyone but it does mean that we should maybe chill the fuck out for three seconds and realize human beings have flaws. the ones throwing the most stones are often giving themselves away anyway so keep slangin

that whole "thing" is not only flawed but is a huge reason why we are down so bad. perpetuating that thinking, you can miss me with that shit.

What's subjective about supporting an authoritarian dictatorship, sexual assault, or believing someone is of lesser value because of their demographic?

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 day ago

if thats what you think i'm doing, you might be beyond saving

see the comment by the other user stating "how this actually works" they are completely spot on

It's more like:

If you don't 100% support Palestine and don't want to immediately cut off ALL aid to Israel without any forethought or nuance as to what that would actually mean, then you are literally just as bad as the people committing genocide.

Or shit like:

If you positively engage with the Harry Potter franchise at any point, you are literally just as bad as those who lynch trans people.

Or things like:

Literally all landlords are parasites, with no exceptions . If you rent a building, you should be dragged out to the street and shot for selfishly hoarding property.

Ok but only the craziest fringe believes any of that.

Like you're taking the most extreme "leftist" views and labeling them the same as all liberals views. To be quite honest, if the entire dem party ACTUALLY believed the things you listed, we would be making great progress.

But it's just nonsense to drive everything even more right because obviously you don't agree with those CRAZY Dems right? They want to NUKE ISRAEL!!

those ideas totally trickle down to your average lib and you know it

ask a sample size about harry potter and see how many disgusted looks you get (keep in mind jkr hasn't been involved in any narrative sense in forever, but somehow that doesn't matter) - freak shit

ask them about israel/palestine - it's either terrorist or nazi - a large section of the american public has opinions given to them from their digested media of choice - again freak shit. someone who condemns hamas or other insurgent groups is not a nazi. let people finish a fucking thought before parroting what you heard from your favorite youtuber.

ask them about republicans - their literal neighbors - wait and see the words they are using (nazi, racist, terrorist)

people speak so generally about shit they don't have the faculty to truly comprehend. they do not deserve validation just because the majority can't recognize that.

we won't win again until people look in the fucking mirror

It's not just him, the whole rightwing media system exists to turn the most extreme leftist political views and state that these are main stream. It's been 10 years and we have no counter to it.
