Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

"Ask not what your country can do for you..." (Because it ain't doin' nothin' for you anymore.)

God that song is so good. I gotta check out the rest of their songs.

The Dems got us into this mess twice, they won't get us out of it.

Only we can make us free.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Sorry the people got themselves into this.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Sorry they hate your shitty candidates. Get better ones.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago

Eh, I would argue Obama was a better candidate but I don't want that to be the focus. I want better policy and follow-through with a group that will actually speak and engage with constituent dialog. I think even if someone like Sanders would've been elected that the Dems would drag their feet as a party with trying to pass anything effectove.

After the whole Debbie Waserman-Shultz (sp, I know) thing, I've been very interested in the individuals who run the day-to-day operations of the party and if they're legitimately promoting progressive candidates and policy with their procedures. If we don't hold the Dem party responsible for the people running it, not just elected individuals, it's going to remain a power hungry organization only interested in their continued thriving (and whatever fucked up metric they're using to determine that).

I'm with you.

The peoples party! We're in another Guilded age.

"Equal rights to all. Special privileges to none."

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yes, we need a new party that is at least slightly left of center to have any hope whatsoever. If you haven’t realized yet that Dems are controlled opposition, well…I’ve got a bridge to sell you.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago

I realised that when both parties were publicly 100% committed to supporting Zionists no matter what atrocities they were committing. Even when the outcry from the left was such that committed dems were supporting other candidates.

TIL: MapQuest still exists.

[–] [email protected] 40 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I think that was the point. This is a brilliant marketing move.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 day ago

Now I'm going to have to use them to print out directions for my next big drive. So nostalgic.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 day ago

I used it recently actually. It was the one site I could plug in a bunch of addresses and have it automatically route me from furthest to closest.

Gulf of Gulfey McGulfface is my favorite.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 days ago

That'll never get old. That may have been the pinnacle.of humanity. Kinda been all downhill since then now that I think about it

Is that the guy from falling skies

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago

You would have to read the book to find out. I wouldn't want to spoil a Chuck Tingle novel.

Also, Chuck has a message for you doubters: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Pounded-Bizarre-Assumption-Tingle-Covers-ebook/dp/B08FMTT9TQ

Conservatives are snowflakes about a body of water's name change not being accepted, meanwhile their only joke is still some variation of the attack helicopter joke. At what point do you just OK boomer them and move on? Effectively that's what the "weird" movement was.

Gitche gumee / Big Water has already been taken. It's the Objibwe name for Lake Superior.

Which in turn took a freighter, or so the song goes.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I was making fun of Trump calling the ocean big water

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I approve. Please enjoy yourself 'making fun of', ridiculing, and/or incisively pointing out the ludicrous nature of the current state of the world. We all need a bit of humor for mental health.
