Nobody should want these guys to finish the job, especially before the election. That's a recipe to end up with President Vance, and the man is an absolute moron. He makes Dan Quayle look like the spelling bee champion.
Donald Trump doesn't deserve to die from an assassin's bullet. He deserves to die of natural causes, in prison.
Vance is immensely unlikable even amongst the republican base. And the past eight years have made it clear that trump can only really get trump elected. The only downside of him going to hell is that it will give republicans a few more years to figure out their post-trump pivot (which seems to be liz cheney).
I feel like with Vance if no one specifically woke him up in the morning and made him his pop tarts he'd just miss the inauguration

You are right, but I dont think the cult would unify around someone else that quickly. In fact, I think chaos that nobody that is sane would truly want would immediately ensue.
On the other hand, every minute he is allowed to operate is a minute that extremists like the Proud Boys, Christian Nationalist, and just an unimaginable rogue gallery of others is actively injected into roles that they can cause extreme damage at.
The unfortunate part is my second point will continue being true rather Trump is bunking in Reagan's torment pitch or not. Mask off will be the policy going forward, just manipulative nasty shit that gets nothing done but the rich richer and the Earth sicker.
Edit: and since I'm ranting I'd like to add; I care not one bit about "justice" served to Trump. I care only that we can recover from and avoid the circumstances that brings people like him to power. Send him to oblivion, lock him in a cell, leave him to die in an old person's home alone once he outlives his use, whatever. I care that we notice what brings these people to power; Fear, Instability, and the abandonment of our own citizens. If we dont educate and care for one another, we are more susceptible to fascism again and again. If we dont strengthen our most vulnerable, and instead cater to those who already have everything, this will just happen again.
Let's not pretend that the man doesn't know exactly what he is doing. His only deficit is in charisma.
Also, if trump's out, I could totally see someone like Romney stepping up, playing the "adult in the room" card, rallying a ton of centrists and economic right folks and getting just enough of the maga types (because he's not a minority woman) to win.
While I would take Romney over the majority of Republicans, there is zero chance that he would rally any kind of enthusiasm with the Republican base. In fact, he would likely drive away undecided voters who were leaning Trump since he is reasonable and the only reason to go with Trump is because of misremembering his time in office or wanting a narcissistic strong man.
Again I only think a Romney type creature could find any toe hold in a post trump... Absence.
But totally speculation, could go 180. Loomis 2025?
There's 0 chance the RP would put Vance up as the new nominee, unless they're already bound and required to.

Protect Donald Trump
Vote for Harris to enact common sense gun regulations.
I'd love for you to be right but Id say any national gun reform will be crushed by the Supreme Court or a split senate.
I hope Harris is elected and has the brass ovaries to pack the court and give Roberts the finger.
That's probably true. But one of these decades maybe we can figure it out. Not because of Orange. Because of the school shootings. Maybe. Eventually.

Well, in some sense, that's precisely what the Secret Service was in this case -- the proverbial good guy with a gun.
I think the fringe 2A people basically want a world that is some combination of the wild west from movies and a militarized society filled with bodyguards and escorts.
Note: they all always assume they're a protagonist or antagonist in this hypothesized world, i.e., they're always the person with bodyguards, a body guard, or an outlaw with a gun moving through the tumbleweeds. They're never all the random people killed along the way.

i find it strange that there would be shots fired and the perpetrator would survive to tell a tale.
on the other hand, the secret service agents must despise that dipshit more than anyone, since he willingly put their lives at risk multiple times, so i have hard time imagining they would be in on any sort of pre-planned PR show...
The guy was behind a fence, with just the barrel of the gun poking through, so it's not too surprising their shots missed.
The effective range of an AK-47 is 380 yards. The shots were taken somewhere between 300 and 500 yards. I don't think the shooter had a chance of making that shot and it is more likely that he was just trying to make himself famous.
Think of how more famous he would be if he took out the first p[resident who attempted a coup and tried to get his VP killed!

No one knows anything about the shooter other than "it was a man".. everyone is always filming that swine and they don't have any leaked to fox news of the attempted assassination? This is all an attempt from the ass hole to get away from the debate and taylor swift.
Oh did he do everything always to make everybody everywhere want him dead?
I have this sneaking suspicion that the first attempt was the equivalent of Columbine and, just like with the explosion in school shootings since then, any loser that wants to make a name for themselves is going to take shots at politicians.
Gonna be honest, I'd rather have a bunch of failed assassinations of politicians than any school shootings at all.
