Was it supposed to be a reference to the last supper? I couldn’t see the ceremony because American channels chose instead to focus on two celebrities poorly describing the ceremony. Rarely do I wish for people to see their children burning in a fire, waning shrieks of terror and confusion covering the wet plops of liquefied flesh flowing and coiling upon the ground, and this is no exception. I do, however, hope their executives reconsider their broadcasting policies because they’re subpar.

Nah it was actually depicting The Feast of Dionysus. Christians jumped on it because it was easy outrage against the "woke". Same thing happened here in France. We managed to harvest our yearly supply of salt from that event!

@BestBouclettes @Gullible true. there was several stage in fact :
* the first one was a party displaying the fashion. People walked on the red carpet with various clotche
* the second a party with various danse style from classical, modern to flokore
* then the small minute mixing dyonisos and the last super, there were both scene.

It was very fun and creative :)

Actually, no

This was the same for everyone. The ceremony director wanted it to be a surprise, so no-one knew what was going on.

They should at least release some guidelines to all the presenters next time.

I think all these "Christians" that were offended by not understanding the theme, and then seeing people at a table (a fairly common thing) and jumping to the conclusion of "this must be the last supper!", says a lot about their head space.

What did they see that specifically reminded them of the "Last Supper" other than people at a table? Did it stir some repressed emotions? Or is it just American ignorance of anything outside US customs or beliefs are lost on the overwhelming majority of American "Christians" that have their heads so far in the sand they still believe Trump is the most "Christian" politician ever?

Had to have been Blue-Motherfuckin'-Jesus

Smurfy Jesus was always my favorite Jesus, I've always said that.

Nah man, eating is their thing, they are just trying to let you know they want to figure out how to trademark it so if they don't like you, you will never be allowed eat.

It's apparently based on this painting (with apollo at the table, and bachus in the foreground) https://musee-magnin.fr/en/node/19

But more importantly, even if it were based on the Last Supper, I don't think this performance would necessarily be mocking Christianity.

Saying “ignorant conservatives” is the same as saying “salty sea”. The right is factually insane.

Straw man arguments. Straw men everywhere

The really funny thing is these morons thought a country as secular as French would overtly celebrate any current religion at all.
