By saying just “2025” this solidifies in my mind that this will be the cross gen game that launches with the Switch 2 around April or May or whatever.

That would be new, usually Zelda games are the ones that are the death knell of Nintendo systems.
Yeah and we can assume Tears of the Kingdom was intended to be this before the delaying actions started.
I think too, that this will be a cross-gen game. But the Switch 2 will be released in fall next year, and it will be announced in spring, at least 6 months earlier.
I was so hyped when I saw it, can't wait to play it. I really hope that it will be for Switch (please don't be for Switch 2).
Hopefully if it is for switch 2, they'd have a switch version as well
I bet they will do this. I remember they did this with Twilight Princess as well.
Or Breath of the Wild. It was a launch title for the Switch but also had a version for the Wii U.
I vaguely remember hearing BOTW played better in some ways on Wii-U but I could be misremembering
In terms of gameplay I think the Sheikah Slate functions were mirrored on the Wii-U pad (at least that was likely the original intent.
The Wii-U emulator was also a lot more developed when BotW released, so if you pirated it at launch the Wii-U version was the one to go with.
I don't think they'd have announced the weaker version of the game first. The first preview of the game would have been from the best possible version they have to show off, so this trailer is probably exactly that. I think it's unlikely that this will be a dual-release game.
Which makes me worry for the success of the game. Having what should be a cornerstone game for the Switch being released on year 8 of the console's life span is not a good look. I want this to be good; I've been wanting this game ever since I finished Metroid Prime 3 back in 2007, I just hope it's not too late to still find success.
I’m hoping for a cross gen situation akin to Breath of the Wild’s launch.
I'm hoping it's gonna be like a GameBoy Color game. One cartridge. Play on Switch, regular graphics. Play on Switch 2, next-gen graphics. Everyone wins
That would be really cool.
Fun tidbit: there's a tiny physical switch in the plug in port that tells those systems which mode the game is for. So if the cartridge presses that switch in, the Gameboy will use the Color/Advanced software, for example.
I don't remember which way is for what specific system, but I always thought that was clever.
IIRC, GBC cartridges could physically fit inside the OG GB, but would throw an error when it required the extra power of the GBC. The GBA had the notch that determined Advance/not-Advance mode and made GBA games physically exclusive to the GBA
It took a little googling but I found an article on it: https://www.ign.com/articles/2001/03/22/game-boy-advance-territory-lock-out-investigated
I wish I had my GBA to look at, since I've never noticed that switch in person, but I lost it some years ago. It's probably still at my dad's house somewhere, but I haven't been able to find it. :(
The website is very clear that it's a Switch game
That would be a valid point if Nintendo never delayed games or changed plans
I’d rather it be on Switch 2 just so it can run better/look better. Plus 2025, i mean… Switch 2 is coming in what, March or so?
Games and consoles are really expensive in my country and since Switch 2 will probably have 4K (at least from TTYD source code) I'm not sure that I'll be able to buy it.
I wonder if it coming out in 2025 means there's still a chance we see Prime 2 and 3 Remasters on Switch, Maybe for Christmas 2024?
I really hope so, as I have never played the original Prime trilogy, and want to play them all before 4. Have been meaning to play Metroid Prime Remake, but without any news of Remake of 2 and 3, or MP 4, wasn't prioritizing it, but going to play the first one soon now.
Hope they release the 2 and soon.
2 could use a remake, if only to finish polishing the dark world. I'm pretty sure it was just a "copy-paste, delete all the plants, make everything purple, and throw a couple rocks around" job. It deserved better.
Ohhh looks beautiful! I hope it's good after all the delays. Reminds me, I need to play Prime 2 and 3...
I've been playing MP3 for the first time lately and I'm excited for this next entry! I'm glad to see they have seemingly introduced a new nemesis, as dark Samus was getting a little old IMO
Wow that's a terrible trailer. They could put a bit of effort into it
over under, silk song releasing compared to prime 4
Wow the new saints row looks awesome
It's happening!!
I hope we get a surprise Metroid Prime Hunters Remaster before this because I have no idea who the villain is.
You think your fun playing MP4 will be diminished due to not knowing who Sylux is in advance?
Not at all. But now that Hunters is more directly tied into the story and not just a spinoff it would be nice to have the full context.
