Only your sense of moral duty. Her kids will be just fine in Canada.
Yeah, I think we're not talking about the same thing here. If their mother dies in a Ukrainian battlefield then kids might wonder why TF that was more important than them.
"Fine" is pretty relative when your mother rather dies in a faraway war than take care of you
