That's probably why Bill Gates set up his foundation. He wasn't allowed to grow his empire, so he decided to go the Carnegie route.
Yeah. A la Carnegie, the philanthrophy was to get tax deductions, plus, they only need to pay like 5% of what they declare, and the rest of the 95% to be reinvested in their charity to do whatever (perhaps lobbying for certain gov't policies).
That's why I pointed to Carnegie instead of something else.
