It definitely sounds like a 'pig butchering' scam. They find someone lonely, give them a sob story, proclaim a special bond, talk to them for months, then start asking for money or pumping an investment scheme. Most likely, he would never come to your country, but rather will start saying "i need <thousands of dollars> to travel there..."

The video length was pretty limiting, though. Instagram at the time started doing 15 second videos. The six seconds lent itself to goofy comedy and not much more.

It seems like they should have sold it. Or just jammed in a bunch of ads... maybe an option to remove ads with a paid membership. Simply killing it doesn't make any money other than to avoid losing more, and they'd already invested a fair bit which you can't recoup by just closing something. Of course, Google does that all the time I guess.

Twitter clearly mishandled it. All they needed to do was give the option to post longer videos. Classic example of a large company buying a small innovative service and destroying it for no reason. I assume they thought it was too similar and in competition with Twit's existing ability to post videos.

Does it have better features or interface for it than kbin? I’ve tried using microblogs on kbin but I find it sorta confusing.

Someone cited recently how much we were paying a year just for air conditioning in Afghanistan: $20 billion. Meanwhile we’re like “hey, maybe children shouldn’t be starving in school and forced to throw their lunch in the trash at the end of the line if they can’t pay for it, maybe states shouldn’t be sending parents to collections for a $90 kid’s lunch bill” and conservatives: WHO’S GONNA PAY FOR THAT??

I tried to make it easy by giving conversions. The only one I didn’t explain is 1/2 a lb which is 8 oz or 225 g, and of course imperial measurements are absurd.

No, half a pound is 8 ounces, or 225 grams. Sure, that’s still a lot.

Yes, it’s a lot, but what if you’re moving houses, going camping, or giving it to someone? It’s legal to give weed to people. It’s like being allowed to brew beer at your house but you can’t leave home with more than a six pack.

Not charging, but the screen and processors create some heat.

Colorado did the same thing. As of last time I dealt with it, you can grow six plants... which could put out like 12 pounds (5.5 kg) if you're good at it, but you can't travel with that because you were only supposed to have one ounce (28g) in your possession. Drive somewhere with 1/2 a lb? Same bullshit as always, second degree felony. The cops managed to to keep it illegal after legalization.

There's an $18 minimum wage in Denver, for instance. Republicans sure as hell didn't vote for that.

Yes, I can hear them. Usually it’s not a problem but I have had 1-2 power adapters that annoyed me.

I generally want people to be happy and I tip decently. As far as making under minimum, it’s set so low federally that someone would have to have no tables or be really bad to not make at least $8 an hour. I suppose it would be more likely in cities that have their own higher minimum like Denver ($18).
