Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see in the article the reason why the stockpile I'd being sold. This I want to know.

It goes back, I don't know, 30 years? With both agricultural US and union areas (sometimes the same places) the Democratic party consistently expected those votes without actually delivering anything. Bill Clinton and the party get blamed for things like NAFTA and jobs moving to other countries, etc. So eventually these folks drift to the Republican party. Many of these people were broadly conservative anyways. Later, the religious aspects and toxicity of what started with Newt manifested to what we see now.

I don't know if an evangelical Democrat would fly now. It's a really bad situation with very entrenched beliefs.

I can't believe this King of Kong dude is still around, holy cow what a butt.

As discussed in the article, of was never really about religion. It was about rhetoric. The bar for Democrats to keep states like Iowa blue was so incredibly low, requiring only action. But none could be taken, and it will now be incredibly difficult to overcome this loss.

I'm not sure I have much to add here other then a little experience. I've had a date tell me "there's nothing there" and realized later that they wanted more than a friend. I am fairly old and have realized that I may not have much to give, romantically. That's fine! But you have to find someone who wants that, also. Myself, I am not really a dater. But if you can see that some people want something more than a friend, more than a friend and sex, you may find where you fit in. I am still working on that. Not easy, but I am also pretty happy on my own. It is good, and healthy, to work on you, and this post is part of that I think. Be well!

I don't think it's weird, a lot of water is pretty rough and what's out on the trail is generally going to better than city water in Mexico. I only got that water bc of a knee problem and didn't want to tank up coming out of a valley. It wasn't bad tasting but sure was green 💚 personally I think the water from wildlife feeders is actually gross. No bueno 👎

When do you start?

I would argue that in some ways, coopting these words and the nonreligious traditions would be excellent because it removes power from "them."

For every religious holiday, there is an equal and opposite secular holiday.

I don't understand why they use steps. Who counts steps? It is more individualized than a distance, but my gosh, who is out there saying 4,981, 4,982, ...? I know roughly the distance of my pace and could convert.

It really sounds like we need folks to get out and do it, tho!

Congrats, have a great time! The only time (so far) I have had to get water from a stock pond was on the CDT in northern NM. Good times! I would recommend having a plan for food storage by the time you get to the Gila. I use a bear can but they're not for everyone.

This looks interesting. It looks geared to importing data from a service (like Spotify), how would one import data from the radio or mp3 files? I don't really stream music but love the idea of new ways to find new music.
