Also use ethique, no complaints.

I think so far the Vonnegut is the best recommendation for you. And not sci-fi but Catch-22 by Joseph Heller might also be a good fit. A lot of these suggestions are really good books, but not as pithy and gripping as I think you might be looking for. But more data is needed, any favorite movies?

nah, wet food is better. If cats don't get enough water they can get crystals in their urinary system. Very painful and can create blockages at are fatal. If your cat is ever straining in the litterbox and not producing it's an instant emergency vet.

By fridge-light at 2am, spread on a soft corn tortilla with a sprinkle of nutritional yeast.

'Where has the cutting board wandered off to?' Something passively accusatory. Everyone knows the board didn't move itself, but the speaker is not assigning blame. ...and because everyone knows that there is blame to be assigned, the annoyance is sort of implied?

No Such Thing as a Fish - It's light and comedic, each presenter explains a little known bizarre or extraordinary fact and the others riff off from it. There's no specific discipline of study it follows, and it doesn't do any deep dives, but it's fun to listen to while doing the dishes.

In many places an overdue will automatically become lost after ~2 weeks - ~3 months. Then you'd be charged the cost of the item and sometimes a processing fee to cover the costs of preparing a replacement book. If you have a lost book, still bring it in, I would happily waive fees up until the point the replacement order was placed. Libraries generally just want the books back.

Has the dog had a checkup recently? Had a beagle once that had its health take a slide, and it feeling uncomfortable led to less than great behavior. I'd advise against the 'tough guy' route being suggested here. Even if it gets you the results you want in the moment, it isn't necessary, stability and affection will get you farther.

yeeah, an insane cspan caller was trying to tell the world that him losing by 17 votes was a signal for the faithful to start the revolution. Nuckinfuts people. Hopefully he doesn't lose by 76 votes next. 😑

I regularly shop men's jeans for the pockets and lower odds of finding glitter on the ass, can say if the fit doesn't work it's because the front is a bit too accommodating. But that's the only issue I occasionally run into.
