Optimistic nihilism is my chosen way of life. Here’s a really good kurzgesagt video on it: https://youtu.be/MBRqu0YOH14?si=2xh3B1eQJN4xosI6

[insert happy/sad bus meme, but both sides say “nothing matters”]

Another way of thinking of it, if you only get to experience this once, make it the best experience you can.

I don’t mind the pop up as much as I mind it being a pop up that tells you to go to another menu to change the setting. Why not just put the setting in the pop up?

You might want to X-post to c/relationshipadvice as well. That being said, the only one responsible for kidnapping anyone is the kidnappers. And no one should expect their friends or lover to kill their kidnappers. It would likely get you killed in the attempt. On top of this, these are all hypotheticals.

Someone who is using hypotheticals that they made up in their head against you is more worried about themselves than you.

It is not my place, but this person sounds like someone I wouldn’t even want to be friends with, let alone date. Friends are there to build each other up, not tear them down and add anxiety.

This one will still be playable offline after the fact, so its offer is way better than the games that are the focus of the Stop Killing Games movement. The games they’re targeting are completely unplayable after being killed.

Most older games will have 2-3 engine loops that they will blend between and pitch accordingly, however Forza 5 specifically was the first in the series to use granular synthesis which is a much more modern approach.

These will have a series of sound files including all the different parts of the engine, exhaust, turbo, etc. Then the software slices these files into tons of pieces in real-time and plays the slices based on the players inputs.

It’s tricky to explain without examples, so here’s a video that does a decent job of explaining how it works in music: https://youtu.be/ftDLRYnRYZQ?si=SEHOl55K7rimi4Eu

I can recommend myNoise if you’re looking for an app with quality soundscapes. Unfortunately not free for all of them, but they are all very high quality and they offer an unlock all option.

Dang. I thought I was the only person who had ever heard of this one. Might have to boot it up in an emulator one of these days and give it a go.

Screenprinting. I also did work as a quality tech for machining. Manufacturing jobs in general do not seem to get any public recognition even though they can be some of the most engaging and can cater to a lot of people that don’t enjoy the employee-customer relationship.

That being said, finding the sweet spot for management can be a challenge.

It’s a career path that’s practically ignored in schools and I wish math classes used more examples from engineering and manufacturing to answer the age-old “Where am I ever going to use this?” question.

Not sure if there’s a better community to ask this, but I’m trying to find a good quality non-cloud-based IP camera that I can feed into a standardized video recording software over a network. Ideally, it would be Wi-Fi capable as well.

Everywhere I’ve looked, they all reach out to a third-party and go through an app or are through junction box and are analog-based.

Does anyone know if an option like this exists?

Here's a song I made (soundcloud.com)

I’ve been making music for about 10 years but haven’t officially released anything. I’m hoping to release my first EP this year, though! This is one of the tracks that’s nearly finished.

Side note: does anyone here know of a community similar to r/wearethemusicmakers on Lemmy for music production?

So I’ve been consolidating all of my storage and removing all the duplicates and junk files.

In actual physical storage, this was spread across 12TB worth of hard drives, all partially full.

After everything was said and done, I’m using 1.3TB of space if you don’t include games. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This is stuff dating back to 2015. Sometimes it’s actually worth it to just clean up your junk files.
