Mobile OSes will ask (and act directly, if ignored) backgrounded apps to dump themselves out to disk to reclaim memory when needed, and the kinds of processing you’re allowed to do while backgrounded are quite limited.

There’s really not much of a performance reason to kill backgrounded apps. Feel free to kill them for other reasons, like unnecessary network traffic or draining your battery by keeping GPS active.

I thought that was the free space.

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"

Yes, it’s my favorite form of protest: easily ignorable, and sparking no conversation.

The worst part about Vincent Van Soup is that people still talk about it two years later. Or maybe the worst part is that it still prompts people to ask “Is climate change really so dire that they were justified?” and have very long conversations about it.

Terrible!

I prefer Orange Paint. Nobody will remember Orange Paint by tomorrow, and that’s what I call a good protest.

Voter: Why does the economy suck so bad?

MAGA: Because brown people.

Harris: You're crazy, the economy is doing better than ever!

Even though stars come in singlets, binaries, trinaries, and even greater numbers of multi-star systems, we’d only ever found stars orbiting one — or, at most, two — stars.

I think they mean planets.

Canonical Strawman Leftist™ describing their utopia: “Everyone votes on everything, and we engage in thoughtful discussion to persuade our neighbors to make good choices with their votes.”

Same leftist describing today: “Voting is pointless, and it’s impossible to change anyone’s mind.”

It’s the private equity playbook. Sell all the real capital assets to cover existing debt, rent replacement assets from the owners themselves using new debt, run operations so lean that you burn out 100% of your labor force, then declare bankruptcy and settle your own debt while keeping all the assets.

It has already destroyed swaths of the private sector, and now they wanna do it to the entire economy.

Also Hardin was a white nationalist and pushed his “tragedy of the commons” theory as a justification for eugenics.

So every time someone references his pseudoscience, they’re breathing life back into a dead fascist’s racism. Yaaaaayyy…
