Oh, I hadn't thought of that! What a terrific scent for a bath soap!

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.
It is a Wedgeday, but I really prefer hollow-ground razors and I wanted to get a second shave in with this 6/8 Dubl Duck. The shave quality was excellent, but I can tell that this is not "my" edge. Confirmation bias anyone?
I agree with you on the existing patina. It has a steam-punk look. Really cool. Great find!
Well, today, there's bound to be more choice available to consumers. And, there are bound to be more artisans that aren't limited to marketing locally. As for soap quality, today's top tier soaps are certainly not worse than the old favorites. The rest is subjective. While I find MWF, Klar, and Tabac very nice, I also have Wholly Kaw, Barrister and Man, WestMan, Faena, Eufros, and others that I think are better product lines. And the variety of fragrances today is amazing. You wouldn't see something like Leviathan as a popular scent in 1949 (though The Holy Black's Gunpowder Spice would probably play well).
I think that you will. Once you have shaved with 10K and 12K synthetic edges, and assuming you like that level of keenness, 8K will likely feel unfinished.
Moving to packing peanut testing last July, and then in September, made a huge difference for me. Now I have a means to tailor keenness consistently and thereby improve my idea of how apex and edge feel varies with different sharpening stone patterns. You're going to enjoy this rabbit hole. I'm sure of it.

I'm returning to Bleu Man for the day and using my Puma 89 again. Such an enjoyable experience using a 75 year old straight razor with the excellence of modern-day soaps, splashes and fragrances.
Wonderful setup. Can’t go wrong with Tabac. I’m, again, looking forward to being entertained by the Lather Games. Luckily, this year you aren’t under the gun with work on the portal :)
Thanks! The drawing out of the bevel shape that your trailing edge strokes produce helps with the transition to the 10K. I don’t think that the jump between 3K and 10K will be much different than the jump between 5K and 10K, but It’s worthwhile to push sharpness on the 10K to see what it can do.
I have a bottle of the original Fabergé Brut aftershave and also a bottle of the modern one. The scents are very close. I like the modern one a little better I think.
Love that bit smiling blade!
