It is pretty much just scaremongering. Marijuana, like any drug, can put a person in a mental state that can serve as a trigger for a psychological condition that someone is prone to, like if someone with a family history of anxiety gets way too uncomfortably high. It’s not necessarily the drug that’s at fault - it’s having a stressful experience of a bad time. I’ve never heard of psychosis induced by cannabis though.

Marijuana is just about the safest drug there is, and I think most people could safely try it with no ill effects.

I’m in the same boat. SimpleLogin is a nice feature, but if this is Proton’s position, they don’t get more of my money.

Firefox Relay seems like a good, free choice?

So he’s walking back and watering down what he said because they’ve gotten so much backlash?

I could handle it if it was the CEO’s personal position - still gross, but whatever. To have this be the company’s official political position, though, I think I’m out.

Recommendations for alternative email and cloud storage providers? Mullvad seems the way to go for VPN

Ah yes, we need fewer nationwide gatherings of solidarity to build connections and prepare to work together over the next few years, and more fruitless calls for violence. That will definitely work.

When I was in high school, I excelled in math and science, so I was pushed super hard to go into engineering for college. I ended up changing majors eventually, but holy shit did I not understand just how strong the engineering school -> “defense” industry pipeline is. They recruit engineering students hard

It was an eye-opening experience, realizing just how many people were comfortable working for these companies as long as they got a fat paycheck

I would say so, yes. If solarpunk is the aesthetic vision of the future we hope for, social ecology provides a political critique and path towards achieving that vision.

Ecology of Freedom, The Next Revolution, and Post-Scarcity Anarchism are all good

You are not as strong as you think you are. Lift with your legs, not your back.

4 days a week, 4-6 hours per day. Having a third weekend day is wonderful, and it really helps with running errands and making appointments. And I have a hard time doing anything for more than 6 hours in a day tops. Unless I’m on my meds, I’ve got about 3 hours of focus before lunch and three after, and that’s it. Which isn’t much of a problem in my current role, where I usually have more time than I need. What I hate the most is the obligation to sit at my desk for 8 hours a day, every day, even when there’s nothing to do

In this context, the meme is talking about liberals not in the American conservative vs liberal sense, but in the liberalism sense. Whereas leftists, who most Americans would think of as “extremely liberal”, are not actually liberals at all, since we oppose free market capitalism and private property.

It blows my mind that they keep doing that. Why do they think that going “see, we’re the good guys, and we’re so good that we’re going to peacefully hand over control of every branch of government to the fascists” as though the US population is going to see that a positive. It’s clear now, if it wasn’t before, that their claims of a threat to democracy was just campaign messaging for them, not a real belief. (And to be clear, the Republicans are very much a threat to what passes for democracy in the US.) The Democrats seem all too happy to be in the minority again and rake in the donations from outraged liberals who think that the old rules still apply.
