In my country, I can understand that children read less. Many don't learn about books at home anymore, and the books we throw at the kids in school are bound to alienate kids from ever touching books again.

And thats just the ones that pop up immediately. For calling yourself a democracy, your system is quite rigged.
I once waited half an hour for voting, because I foolishly decided to vote just when Sunday mass was over (we vote on Sundays, and my polling station was right across the church). Never made that mistake again, waiting time is usually five to ten minutes.
