The USSR wasn’t perfect and there were some mistakes that they have done, such as supporting Israel early on. But one lasting good thing it did was help People’s Democratic Republic of Yemen (South Yemen) develop their missile program. We are seeing the lasting legacies of this now.

It is really nice to see an alternative to US corporate tech making inroads. But to get the numbers even higher the US needs to ban the Chinese and Russians from using Windows and I hope they do.

The network effect is compounded by all the other applications that interop with Lemmy, ActivityPub apps sure but more so KBin and MBin and others that provide a similar service to Lemmy.
