I thought it was more a case of nobody (except those who don't own a house) wanting prices to fall because so many people have their wealth invested in property. Even if it is a money laundering issue, no government will do anything that results in prices falling.

Those guys sound like assholes and many would consider their behaviour to be sexual harassment/ assault.
Unfortunately we often don't have a choice because there's pressure to publish in high impact journals which are usually not open access. I would love to be able to publish all of my papers in open access journals!
However, you can often email researchers asking for a copy of their papers and usually they'll be happy to share it.
I actually don't think I've seen that many economists (the progressive ones at least) who haven't been making the case for some sort of windfall tax on profits. The Australia Institute have been all over this for years now. Even the more centrist / conservative economists admit there needs to be some sort of intervention to regulate competition in the market. Pretty sure it was the IMF who came up with the approach for calculating how much profit driven inflation there is. Anyone who doesn't recognise this is either on the payroll or selectively ignoring huge chunks of data / evidence.
The Housing Future Fund is the type of dogshit policy that you would expect from an LNP government.
I'd prefer they use the funding to build houses or raise jobseeker tbh....
I'm a woman but due to my interests in traditionally masculine activities and general disinterest in conventional gendered behaviours, I hang around a lot of men. Most of my close friends have been men. From my experience, if men want to improve their mental health then they need to develop a better relationship with vulnerability and the shame they've been conditioned to feel around that.
Mental health stigma exists for everyone and as a society we need to fuck this right off. Mental health challenges are part of the human experience in the same way physical illnesses are and we need to support people accordingly. I've noticed that a lot of men tend to have issues with expressing their feelings out of fear of being vulnerable. The outdated myth that men are less emotional really doesn't help this situation either. This can also create barriers for men in seeking mental health support, both formal and informal.
It needs to more okay for men to be vulnerable. All people are vulnerable and it doesn't make you weak. All people need support at some point in their lives. Emotions are really hard and it's better to recognise and acknowledge them than it is to push them down. Expressing vulnerability and overcoming difficult feelings shows bravery and strength.
Are there people who genuinely enjoy ads?
Everyone should try and reduce the amount of meat they eat as much as they can. Same goes for flying and driving.
Have you ever listened to MLK speak or read anything he's written? Dude would absolutely be what he is today if he had not been murdered.
The worst case scenario for them is that marginalised groups might start getting a greater say over the policies and laws that affect them. If Indigenous Australians are awarded more power in a system that is designed to keep them powerless then who knows what other groups in a similar situation of powerlessness might start getting uppity about.
The conservative no campaign don't want to change the status quo because they don't have a problem with it. Shit's working fine in their view. The yes campaign and progressive no campaign agree that the status quo is not good enough but disagree about how it needs to be changed.
If you read the conservative no campaign's brochure one of the concerns that they have about the voice is that it opens the door to activism. I personally think that is the foundation of their position and everything else is just incoherent fluff to wrap it up in.
