It’s amazing how in a story about Microsoft letting customers down, people feel compelled to make up bullshit about Apple.

That would destroy US space capabilities. Just because Elon is a racist dipshit doesn’t mean we should stop building the best rockets in the world.

Honestly if we have less money to Boeing and more to spacex, NASA would be way better off.

I interviewed at Microsoft decades ago and found a bug in notepad during my interview when they gave me a laptop and asked me how I would test notepad.

Their faces indicated that this was not supposed to be a productive exercise.

A web browser is not a word processor no matter how much they tart it up. If the thing isn’t saving a file to my local drive that is in a common format It’s not worth putting your effort into.

So many kids are going to grow up not having the concept where data lives and what the failure modes are.

They would be waiting forever if they wanted to break ground in downtown la or sf first.

You can’t will car lobbies and nimbys to action, you have to coerce the general public and the state, and this incomplete rail will be the coercion.

Honestly it’s a brilliant strategy for a shitty situation. After this phase, if they somehow don’t get permission to complete the line, they would never have gotten rail built between the cities anyway.

The problem with slaughter bots is that the chain of command to kill can be shortened to just one person.

The chain of command for a human is much more complex and can have a moral circuit breaker in every part of that chain.

Profit is not really the way to ascribe value to a method of power production. Otherwise continuing the use of fossil fuels would be the "best" course of action.

The Chinese propaganda made to counter the satellite images, testimony from victims, and video evidence consists of some YouTubers visiting the same handful of uncomfortably smiling Uyghur families under the careful eye of Chinese censors and fluff pieces that amount to “nuh-uh”.

China is trying to erase the culture of people within their borders, again, and there is a long tradition of this forced assimilation in China. They are not pluralistic, and don't want to be, and their attitude towards non-chinese within their borders lead me to have very low expectations on how they will treat minorities outside.

I’d rather be under the rule of a hegemony that is composed of many different cultures and in the process of healing than one who is still actively genociding their minorities.

EDIT: Welp, I guess there is no war in Ba Sing Se. Ya'll are expert brigaders, well done.

They are in trade with China. They can import what ever the hell they want. They did not import the components for the plant out of incompetence and are producing propaganda to deflect blame.

And then, just as now, many said “I wouldn’t have a problem with it if they weren’t rubbing it in my face!”
