You could maybe work this out from a meta analysis of the studies about caffeine and focusing, where the control group is actually just in withdrawal.

I was surprised by the lack of correlation between caffeine intake and sleep quality, but the takeaway, for me, is that if they were specifically looking into that, they’d need to control for other factors. And n=5 is pretty small.

Interesting stuff.

People deleted the content they had access to. As protesting subreddits went back to being public, the content they hadn’t been able to delete became visible again.

Sure, but also the broader “join my Patreon to get access to my Discord server” market. It’s actually a pretty clever move, if there’s a market for it (there is) and if it replaces more insidious revenue streams (it won’t).

After loving Prey, I’m now playing Dishonored. So far so good, I like how quickly I was able to get zooming and target highlighting in lore appropriate ways!

There’s room for preference, I can enjoy a dark roast blend, but they seem to be really leaning into it these days.

Bad? Who’s to say. Specialty coffee is 100% Arabica and Arabica is more expensive to source, so, regardless of preference, I’m surprised by “100% the cheap stuff” marketing.

I think it’s an attempt to introduce apparent differentiation at a low price-point. I’m curious about future developments.

I love acidic specialty coffee that tastes like you squeezed half a lemon into the cup, but I also enjoy bolder, more classically intense coffee.

My main point isn’t so much about people’s different preferences, but the way companies seem to be pushing towards one end of the preference spectrum bit because of its value, but because of the cost and margins.

Or “How Signal is closer in functionality to WhatsApp by the day, because it turns out people like the functionality of WhatsApp.”

I was thinking about how this would happen and I remembered when signing up for services using Google login, I’d always get a list of information the website would have access to, including the name listed under the Google account. When I didn’t consent to that, I went back.

Now, is there a line somewhere between strictly getting a user’s consent and the user having an expectation of privacy? Yes, and they may have landed on the wrong side of it.

Suffice it to say, this is one of the reasons I prefer to sign up with an email address.
