With something like the heroic launcher you don't even need to install the Epic games launcher. Just redeem the game through the website and play them through heroic.
For Linux you can use Heroic if you want a launcher. Otherwise you can just download the installers on their website.
Yes, but most aren't able to be used like a laptop/desktop PC. You can't install any software from outside the official repository on a Xbox or Playstation whereas the Steam Deck is just a handheld laptop with Linux as the OS.

My phone can install APKs out of the box. XAPKs need a separate installer though, but that is a one time problem. Many APKs even get recognised by the playstore which made it easier to update it.
My device either isn't verified or in some way geolocked for some apps so I had to get APKs of them to use those apps and I never had a problem with that.
