Ah, I was thinking that it was a ban from lemmy.world completely.

It is neither Dean nor Sam.
Besides, a motorcycle is far more fuel efficient; I typically get about 40-45mpg, v. 12mpg for a '67 Impala.
That's... Interesting. This site is considered to have a significant right bias, but it's still reporting on these claims, and seems to give them credibility. OTOH, Times Now News has a very mixed record on facts, so this might be total bullshit.
We'll see what happens. If it's real, and it comes out with a week left before the election, that might be just enough to tip the scales. Maybe.
@[email protected] did this get reversed? Because I'm seeing posts again when I'm not signed in on a mobile client. Or did they move to another instance?
My gut feeling is that, the more guns you own, the less likely it is that you're going to commit violent violent crimes. I don't know if anyone tracks any kind of data on that though. People that collect firearms and/or are seriously involved in competition are not typically the people that will be involved in other illegal activities. But, again, I don't think that there's data to back this up.
My caveat on that is that there are non-insignificant number of high-volume gun owners that are committing gun crimes, that is, they're violating the National Firearms Act by owning illegal/unregistered machine guns, unregistered silencers, Other Destructive Devices, etc., or are violating local laws regarding storage, etc. (There's no storage laws where I live, and, uh, I def. have guns out pretty much all the time. But I have no kids, there's always someone at home, and I'm in a very rural area where breaks ins are very rare.So I think that there probably should be a distinction between commission of violent crimes using firearms, or crimes related solely to ownership/possession.
It's very hard for me to care if cancer rates for TSA agents go through the roof; they willingly signed up for that shit, so fuck 'em.
Regardless; the TSA was caught lying about the capabilities of the machines, and I'm just not willing to step foot through one. The ionizing radiation doesn't worry me, because I was never flying frequently enough for it to be an issue.
That is correct, yes.
Idaho is not a state you want to live in unless you are white, hard right conservative, Christian, cis-, and straight. You probably don't want to have too much education either.
Lots of home internet does have a data cap, but you might not realize it. Typically what will happen is that, once you hit your cap, you'll be rate throttled. That throttle might not affect most video streaming since Netflix is really good at video compression, but you'll see the hit if you are, for instance, downloading large games from PSN, Steam, etc.
I refuse to fly domestically anymore just because the TSA is all security theater, I refuse to go through their backscatter x-ray, and I'm not interested in their enhanced groping. I will ride my motorcycle 1000 miles in a single day rather than take a plane anywhere.
Yeah, I have, and I got stiffed out weeks of pay I was owed because it was with a fly-by-night contractor that had a nose-candy problem. ...Which is why I don't do that any more. (Plus, he insisted on doing shit in the most backassward, bullshit way. I'll be surprised if his shit doesn't kill someone some day.)
If you work for a reputable company--not as a 1099 contractor, which is self-employed--then you probably have to be paid overtime pay. If you get a W2, and you're not getting OT when you have to put in more than 40 hours in a week, then you need to consult with an employment attorney.
I'm thinking of the voters that are at the margins, not his core demographic. I agree that MAGAs are going to be unswayed no matter what. But there are def. voters that are thinking about personal finances, and think Trump will be better for their wallet (spoiler: he wouldn't be), and you might be able to peel them off if something really gross came out just before they voted. Or peel enough of them off to make a difference.
