Bookmarked this post. You‘re a legend mate.

It really doesnt matter much imo. The obvious best choice here would be three copies on three media in three locations. You can also argue for more. It depends on your threat model. If you have an offsite backup that is reachable from the host machine, a ransomware attack can still devastate you. I have therefore made deaddrops for backups so no machine or user has access to all of them.

My general rule with backups is the standard you pretty much hear everywhere: 3-2-1

3 copies of every file you value 2 different media 1 off site

For example, you can have two copies on one drive and a third in the cloud. That way you prevent accidental deletion, bit rot and house fire.

Ragebait or some kid pointing at others ignoring their own toxicity.

Also wrong sub. There are reddit specific subs.

So effectively its not FOSS.

Its not a surprise but it has not really received a lot of attention since people have reported it.

https://github.com/signalapp/Signal-Desktop/issues/5751

Also signal as a service is not really open source because it is not selfhostable. The server backend is proprietary afaik.

Oh! I didnt know that was OS only! Thanks for lmk!

Additional question: wouldn’t it be cool to have a place where you can only get open source stuff? Obviously there needs to be more to it than this fact i presume but its a start.

I wish! You‘re amazing.

Why am I not surprised that you of all people would educate us today?! :)) thanks for this awesome example.

Thanks for answering.

Just to clarify: I don’t think the DSM-V is wrong and I think it is an excellent source.

But if the DSM-V says that „…can’t be diagnosed while autism…“ does sound like the adhd/autism thing and this is what I think gets people worked up.

That also may be the reason why someone said you treat it like the „bible“ which is a metaphor for using it too strictly as in „the dsm-v has been wrong before and only represents todays knowledge and could be changed tomorrow. Dont use it as sole reference“.

And as I said as well, you did reference the minimum timespan which is afaik not the way autistics experience this kind of thing. So they really only don’t like the „you cant say selective mutism because dsmv says not autism“ thing.

Sorry for repeating the same thing but I wanted to get the angle right to reduce misunderstandings. I hope I did a decent job.

Hi there! Last time I posted here, my problem was solved quickly so I'll try one more time. :)

I would like to migrate/mirror one of my reddit subs on here including a lot if not all posts. This would mean the following things in excalating order:

  • Make a bot crosspost every new post on the sub
  • Copy seed content (like 50 or 100 posts?)
  • Copy the entire sub history

I have read that this can strain an instance (at least the last one I suppose) and I would like to know if it is ok to do so and if I need any help from someone with high permissions. Optimally, I'd do point three but 1 or 2 would be good as well.

Have a good one! :)

Thanks to whoever made this place on lemmy! It has been an important and awesome resource on reddit and NDs are the first who should leave reddit immediately since the toxic leadership decisions. It’s wonderful to see that we now have a place here! <3

Hi there! Not sure if this is the right place to ask but I tried to upload an icon and a banner to a community I recently made. It's throwing this error: {"data":{"msg":"Error interacting with filesystem","files":null},"state":"success"} both on firefox and chrome. I filed an issue on github with the frontend but I thought maybe it's just me making an error that is known here. Mods: Feel free to delete if this is the wrong place to post.

Have a great day! :)
