Just chiming in to say they lost my donations and me as a user for federating with Threads. I'm over on feddit.de now because they're the only instance I could find defederated from Threads and the tankies.

Edit: Have to edit this comment because I'm laughing at all of the butthurt users who are downvoting me because they don't like my personal decision.

Double food crime if they're fried up in gutter oil!

It can be used to describe the illicit practice of restaurants reusing cooking oil that has already been cooked with longer than safety codes permit. It can also be used to describe the reprocessing of rancid yellow grease collected from sources such as restaurant fryers, kitchen and slaughterhouse waste and sewer drains.

This is exactly the route I've been thinking about heading!

I've still got some songs (including horrendously misattributed artists/titles) from limewire in my music library, all these years later.

Eh, that only goes so far. Any appeal to their original content is eroded by their practices surrounding streaming packages.

I canceled when they bumped their price up a lot, and had it structured to where the HD streaming was paired with the package for a bunch of devices. It's bullshit that they don't allow HD streaming with a package with only 1 or 2 devices.

I am also deterred by their password sharing crackdown, because I used to share subscription payments with my brother in another household.

I read that they're planning on doing away with the commercial free subscription, and I have no interest to resubscribe if it's a payment plus commercial model.

The convince of having quality original content in one place is nullified by their sleazy bullshit practices. There's no way that their "convince" outweighs the little effort it takes to pirate the content IMO.

Steam and Netflix are the sole reasons I stopped pirating as a teenager/young adult.

I canceled Netflix long ago at this point and have been on the brink of going back to pirating films/TV. Too many streaming services.. it's just like TV packages before Netflix disrupted the model.

There's no justification for Hamas' terrorism, nor is their justification for Isreal's genocide.

To add to this, radicalism spreads thru a social contagion effect and requires repeated reinforcement, and social media acts as a catalyst. However, local organizing also plays a vital role in the spread far-right extremism.

Here is an article I have written on my blog detailing how people become radicalized. I have ads turned off and do not benefit in any way from my blog.

One important section I'd like to share here is for the false 'both sides' arguments:

There is a stark difference in the means with which the two groups engage in acts of extremism. In a study evaluating Left-Wing and Right-Wing domestic extremism between 1994 and 2020, there was one fatality as the result of Left-Wing extremism, versus 329 fatalities resulting from Far Right extremism in that 25 year period. [5]

The Far-Right movement is the oldest and most deadly form of domestic terrorism in the United States, and The Anti-Defamation League Center on Extremism found that the Far-Right is responsible for 98% of extremist murders in the U.S. [24] Furthermore, for nearly every year since 2011, Far-Right terrorist attacks/plots have accounted for over half of all terror attacks/plots in the United States. [21]

In the U.S., Right-Wing extremism was responsible for two-thirds of all failed, foiled, or successful terror attacks in 2019, and was responsible for 90% of attacks in the first half of 2020 alone. [21] Since 2013, Far-Right extremism has been responsible for more terror attacks/plots than the Left-Wing, ethnonationalism, or religiously motivated attacks/plots. [21]

That's actually a pretty compelling argument.

But then again, I don't think Nixon signed onto have his head in a glass jar. Is parody not an exception?
