The band Ripe's latest album, Bright Blues, but that's practically every day for a while now

You joke, but in Malaysia, they do have a car named after the local word for mouse deers, kancil (the "c" is pronounced as a "ch"). I learned to drive in one of those.looks like this

There's really no end to the depth of Clarence's moral bankruptcy... Not even responding to your "son" when he's struggling and reaching out.

“I actually don’t know if they know that I’m locked up—I’m not sure they’d care too much,” Martin said. “I’ve seen—I’ve probably seen them two times, maybe three times, over the last 14 years.”

Fucking cold... I really hope Martin's able to get the help he needs as well

IIRC, that was part of the deal buying this and part of what made it so expensive and unique. News article at the time talked at length about the secrecy aspect. Kinda dumb IMO but I understand a super fan wanting to own something like this. The fact that this A hole bought it instead then immediately broke contract...

I luckily don't have any major incidents but a couple stick out in my memory.

First time I realized an encounter was racist was my first time at a summer camp in the US around age 12.

I went with a friend to line up for the showers in the morning and it was just us two and another kid. I barely noticed he was there cause I was caught up in conversation. Not long later some other kids walk in and the waiting kid just blurts out in relief "Thank god, I was the only white guy here!" And even in my innocent, privileged little 12 year old brain I knew that was kind of fucked up.

Also had a South African girl break up with me as a teen cause her parents literally cited my nationality as an issue... While they were living in my country...

I'm all for paying developers when the product is good. Boost was recommended to me by someone I trust, and I believe the controversial permissions were addressed by the developer saying it was boiler plate stuff for the ad service they were using, so I have no problems recommending it at the price they're offering for ad free

I know people like the FOSS apps like Jerboa, but I wasn't into the interface. I heard there were big changes since I tried it though so maybe it's good now.

That said, Boost is my daily driver. Was happy with the Reddit version so I paid for the ad free Lemmy version too. Everything works and it's all smooth and intuitive (to me at least).

I also tried Sync and I do think it's nicer than Boost but WAY more expensive to go ad free.

I feel like QAnon keeps upping the ante on the term "unhinged"

After trying a search, opened Lemmy to see if it was my connection, immediately see this meme. Thanks for the troubleshooting confirmation Lemmy

Crypto - Meh, I have digital banking and payment processing already, with easy enough international transfers. I'm good.

AI - I see the possibilities, I think we should continue to develop it even if just for the medical applications of machine learning. Right now people just like playing with it, but, privacy issues aside, I don't think it's a waste.

Yeah, maybe some kind of situation where you turn it on for "training time" with access to only specified files and systems on the computer, no internet access, etc. At the same time though, I wonder how much an AI could really streamline things. Would it just pre-load my frequent files and programs? Make suggestions or reminders on tasks? I don't think we're anywhere near the level where it could actually be doing work for me yet.

Interesting possibilities, but I'm not sure how useful yet.
