The scariest thing is when you read where did they take the inspiration for this from. Real stuff...

Your contribution to the community are valued. All I ask for this post's title to be a bit tidier and in line with the rest of the posts to keep this community consistent.

Doesn't break any rule. Its just poor vocabulary and writing skills

Please change the title not include "fucked up" and be more informative like "extremely dark story"

Hi guys, I recently took a trip to Italy to see my friend who purchased a 1997 Mercedes about a year ago, which is extremely comfortable and pretty reliable - he swears by it. We got into a chat about advantages, reliability and comfort of the older over newer cars and he got me kinda excited to get into classic motoring. I currently have a 2017 Honda Civic for which I pay a pretty penny every month (its a lease) and my contract runs out in two years. I started looking around for a classic alternative I could maybe get outright cash in hand or with a little help from a financing company. I see a lot of Jaguars XF and X-Type on the streets of UK, I looked them up on autotrader and they can go for anything from about 2k to 10k depending on the milage etc. - still about 5k less than price sticker of my Civic. So here is the question - is it worth looking into? What models/makes I could look into? What should I be aware of? Any tips? Tricks? I'm looking to expand my family in the coming years so a 3 doors sports car are out of the question :) Thanks

Hi all,

I bought a Sinclair ZX81 on a garage sale some days ago for around 12 USD as a non-tested item as the guy said he had no wires to even try and run it. I have a couple of RF cable kicking about from my Atari 2600 and ZX Spectrum, so I have this basis covered.

According to the manual LINK it takes 9V 700mA unregulated (I'm not sure what it means) 3.7mm jack power supply. I have a 9V DC 1A jack power supply I bought for the Atari (it's not an original one - a unbranded one) and I tried to use it, but to no success. Manual tuning my TV same as with Spectrum and Atari, and no signal.

I was wondering if maybe the power supply is not up to spec? I was thinking that maybe 1mA is too much to power it up? But I went online to look for an unbranded ZX81 power supply and they are running 2A so I'm not sure what's going on here.

Is it busted? Or should I get one of those unbranded power supplies that say they are made for ZX81 to test it?

Thanks :)

Coming from a person having a quarter-life crisis being just a baw hair from their 30s.

  1. You are still extremely young but don't fixate on this. Telling yourself "I'm still young and have plenty of time to do X or fix the Y" means eventually you will be too old for those things. Unless you will fall ill or there will be some age restricted obstacles, it's not true. You can learn new skills in your 20s as well as your 40s if you are determined enough. Shifting your career? No bother, I know heaps of people that did just that in their uni days as well as ones that are long into their existing career.

  2. Don't worry about this. If you fell behind the pack with your studies, means it wasn't for you. Whether it was the nature of your course, or maybe a uni in general. Going to university is not for everybody, just like doing manual labour is not for everybody. Use this opportunity to ask yourself a question, WHY did you drop out. Is it because you were too lazy? If you had true passion for it, you would find motivation to do it.

  3. No shame in that. I know people that are in their 30s and live with their parents to save money for their first home. Use this opportunity to enjoy your life without certain worries. The time to pay taxes, rent and for your food will come and you will look back fondly on this period of your life :) It would still be a good idea to chip in for utilities and food to your parents if you have means to do so. Will probably make you feel better about living there.

  4. Good. Do mistakes. You learn more from your mistakes than from the things you did right. But the important thing is to analyze WHY you made those mistakes.

  5. Maybe check if there is a career advisor near you/on your campus? They offer free advise based on what interests you. Ask yourself what are things in your life that you are passionate about or what kind of stuff do you enjoy doing. Remember, if you are passionate about something, there is a way to make it into your career. There is a reason why some people that are truly passionate about video games, they go into streaming career, and they are very successful. Me for example, I love playing video games, but I don't see myself doing for a full on career, because I want to keep it as my private hobby, and I lack certain traits to become a successful streamer (English is not my first language, I'm self conscious and I lack certain charisma).

  6. Do it. Only by trying you will learn anything about yourself. Hypothesising will only get you this far.

That's my advice :)

As in the title is there an app for the every 20min look at an object 20m away for 20s rule?

Cheers

As in the title - its on sale on all consoles at the moment for a very good price and I was wondering what console should I get it on. I like the idea of playing it on the go and I thought as it looks like it should run no difference what console im playing it. But I heard some mixed reviews regarding the performance on Switch.

Hi troops, I'm trying to get photos files from my dad's old HDDs. We no longer have access to any old PCs to acutally plug them in, so I was wondering if you could point me to some sort of USB converter that would allow me to grab files from them. My cousin has a PC but it's a newer model with more up to date connection to HDD/SSD. Disks in question:

1000002680

Many thanks! D

Wordpress Backup (lemmy.blahaj.zone)

Hi all, I recently started my own ecommerce store with Woocommerce and I'm wondering if there is a free backup solution? So to backup my store, database - everything - in case something goes tits up. I have a NAS drive which could be used for storage. Any ideas? Thanks

Are there any fitness trackers that don't have a screen and are supported by some OS apps?

I remember researching this some time ago, and there was some abandoned by it's company fitness tracker that people tried to reverse engineer to work with an OS app.

I would like it to have no screen as I already have a mechanical watch, and I dont like to have two things doing the same thing.

Cheers
