I don't see any way of stopping fascism in America. By some definitions we've been living in fascist America for a long time we just haven't had an authoritarian leader yet. The state uses the violence of the police force to crush leftist protest. The media enforces all belief in corporate interests depending on the media product you're consuming. Some still toss a bone on occasion by pointing out wealth disparity but always denigrate policies aimed at correcting it.

I don't want the Democrats to move right yet again, but if that's what people want then we aren't the majority. I want a party that isn't Democrats. We're not moving them from within, that hasn't worked at all.

Unfortunately where I'm from (the self centered shithead part of NY) moving to the right is EXACTLY what they want... I've had no shortage of people tell me they only voted for Kamala because she dropped the progressive stuff and was taking on Republicans in her cabinet. Of course the propagandists have done a wonderful job this cycle associating progressives with antisemitism so that did wonders for us too....

I think we just need to accept that America is a far right country and we're the miniscule minority that wants change... I was already depressed about the result but then hearing just how many selfish bootlickers are out there made it even worse.

Trump only cares about Trump.

He hires people now that he knows will do what he says and what he says they should do will almost universally be motivated by self interest. I honestly think he felt a bit intimidated the first time so he hired some "insiders" to help, but now it's all sycophants. It's one of the things I hate most about him. He's apathetic to the actual workings of government, he doesn't care about who does what, just as long as they do what he asks of them when he needs them.

As for what the sycophants want, that's a whole nother thing... They probably have their own plans: Stephen "I wanna out Hitler, Hitler" Miller, absolutely has his own goals but will also kiss the ring whenever asked.

This will be an incredibly dangerous administration. :(

Generally yeah, but even the article pointed out that it was bipartisan and the scumbags caucus was the one that put it on the shelf for now. There was a lot of language about "unfair distributions" so if anything they'll make slight clarifications to that. Social security is kind of a "third rail" of politics, you touch it you die.

Old people and billionaires are the two classes of people you don't mess with in politics, one votes for you the other owns you, but then again now that gen z seems to be brainwashed by Reich wing disinformation podcasts and tictoks maybe Republicans will ditch their fear of old people revolting against them.

I think I'd still file that under stupid.

I really hope mail ballots become the norm. It was absolutely wonderful to be able to take the time to look people/propositions I didn't know up while I had the ballot there. That won't help with laziness though. Can't help lazy. :/

Rhetorical question of course. The country is very stupid. Just today my coworker said "see Trump is our next president and the taxes already went down!" (he was referring to the interest rate decrease from the federal reserve...)

Looks like it's scumbag politics.... They want all the credit. They don't want the population associating this with any Democrats whatsoever, they want to make it appear as a GOP bill passed by a fully GOP lead government... It will be passed, but not until next year so they can claim full credit...

They're too greedy to build a new engine and insist on sticking with the limited creation engine so they can keep churning out uninspired copy paste crap. It's cheaper than the alternative and they don't want to have to learn something new which also costs time(money).

I gave up on so-called "AAA" dev corporations. I hate that they squander good IPs keeping them locked up because they own them... :(

Thanks! That image isn't stacked, but I am just getting into learning about all of that. I think I'm having an issue with clarity (I'm just using my pixel 8 pro and a cheapo phone adapter hooked up to my telescope) so the stacking software I've tried isn't picking up on most frames.

If I have to begrudgingly thank Trump for anything, it's pushing me to buy a seestar s50 now before prices go up with the tarrifs so I'll be getting much better images soon! Not for planets though lol It's mostly for deep space objects.
