Hello everyone,

I'm looking for suggestions on budget friendly hosting providers, specifically for VPS or pre-installed Yunohost options. My goal is to host a single Fediverse instance with an SSL domain. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

You're kinda in a self hosting community, so I'll start off with a Raspberry Pi, docker, and your ISP. Not what you requested, I know.

That said, I do also pay for hosting for my other sites that need a little more 24/7 uptime security. I use namecheap since they were super helpful and awesome when I got fed up with my other host back in 2007 I think. Buuuut the bigger they got, the more clunky the service. I don't really recommend them for business, but hobbyist projects are still ok in my books. They totally botched email though; their servers are on so many blacklists.

I second their helpfulness. Even if the issue is kinda your fault they help. I was hosting 10 or so sites on their platform. I am not longer doing websites for people and converted my wordpress sites to Hugo sites so no longer have their hosting service.

I got so annoyed at Godaddy and their UI that I jumped to Namecheap. Quick and to the point.

My work uses gondaddy. I hate every minute of trying to navigate their site.

Budget friendly ? Hetzner. Yunohost has a non-comprehensive list of internet service providers by country, which contains criteria about tolerance to self-hosting. https://yunohost.org/en/providers/isp and maybe this is interesting to read https://yunohost.org/ar/howtohostyourself

Netcup is cheap and reliable. Based in Germany, I host my personal website and a few tools with one of their VPS. Never had a problem with them and the price is good.

Edit: If you're looking for web hosting, they offer that too alternatively.

Contabo is German based and I've been using them for years.

Second that. Been with them for a year now. Good price and performance.

Whenever I need a dedicated VPS I always check the deals on https://lowendbox.com/

There is also lowendtalk and lowendspirit, both the them are forums where you can make a post to ask.

Servarica is well priced, and Hetzner is what I ended up using after trying many

Racknerd has some pretty good discounts here and there.

I got a killer black Friday deal! 4.5GB ram for $52 for a year. Thats what I was paying for a 1gb VM at vultr.
