Casual Conversation

Share a story, ask a question, or start a conversation about (almost) anything you desire. Maybe you'll make some friends in the process.

RULES

  1. Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, bigotry, and/or trolling.
  2. Encourage conversation in your OP. This means including heavily implicative subject matter when you can and also engaging in your thread when possible.
  3. Avoid controversial topics (e.g. politics or societal debates).
  4. Stay calm: Don’t post angry or to vent or complain. We are a place where everyone can forget about their everyday or not so everyday worries for a moment. Venting, complaining, or posting from a place of anger or resentment doesn't fit the atmosphere we try to foster at all. Feel free to post those on [email protected]
  5. Keep it clean and SFW
  6. No solicitation such as ads, promotional content, spam, surveys etc.

I think that fine but it still should be a conversation starter.

There is [email protected] for memes inspiring hope.

and a bunch more wholesome communities with all the different flavours.

I love this idea

I’m ok with that.

However there’s also [email protected] if you have lots of positivity to share.

You wanted to be happy again because of some conditions you have set.

For example, you'll be happy because you bought an expensive item, or you have a wealthy partner, or you want to succeed in your work and get a Ferrari.

These conditions aren't met, so you will not be happy.

To be happy again, we can loosen some conditions for ourselves, giving us chances and freedom from conditions that are hard or almost impossible to meet.

For example, when we have breakfast with fried eggs and rice, we are happy. When we meet a friend at a casual restaurant and play Mobile Legends Bang Bang together, we are happy. When we help our family do the dishes, we are happy.

There's an uplifting news thingy, but good news should be welcomed everywhere

It used to have a glitch, but now people can post again!

I think one of the issues is that your post automatically ends up being flagged as NSFW. And it might get hidden for regular users who didn't update their settings. Seems LemmyNSFW adds that to all posts?! You can edit your post and remove the NSFW tick in the checkbox. But upon post creation it's flagged whether you tick or untick the box...

Nah, it wasn't that, but whatever it was, it's sorted

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago

I post there regularly, never had that issue.

I actually don't think these types of posts are productive.

It's a lot of platitudes and talking about ideals which in a way is good, but doesn't actually help anyone.

I think what is necessary is more supportive actions and behaviors, less posting of positive cliches.

I mean, this community is for casual conversation, it's not really "productive".

In addition to the other two already mentioned, I believe there was a HopePosting community... Somewhere. The way I browse Lemmy, I don't often remember the instances communities are on, tho 😖

But how could you be positive when X, Y and Z??

Absolutely not.
