I'm just gonna say this, perfect is the enemy of good. With our sovereignty on the line you won't even have the privilege of voicing these concerns if the mericans take over in their current facist state. They are one or two elections away from being an empire and no longer a republic

I recall in the past Western nations would hold their social progress over emerging nations with an air of arrogance. But anyone who has been alive long enough understands that social progress is a function of Maslow's hierarchy of needs. When basic needs become more challenging to secure (as they have been in Canada and the US with affordability crises), social progress unfortunately takes the back burner.

Its often less about the people and more about the circumstance, though religion can be an important modifier.

Did you know that Maslow's hierarchy of needs was actually based off of the Blackfoot indigenous culture, but he essentially flipped the 'pyramid' on its head? Originally, it was meant to be more of a cyclical view (where you take care of society, society takes care of you, all needs are met). He was actually very inspired by this view, but unfortunately adapted it to fit more into the individualist views of the colonizers that continue to exist in most of the western world today. He also never actually put his theories into the pyramid shape we know them to be.

Really interesting to read up on, if you're into that sort of thing. There's a few different articles on it, but I thought this one explained it pretty well.

I suspect most people know that Pierre Poilievre is no friend of anyone who isn't a cis-white-male-Christian

No kidding. Social issues aren't off the table in this election. It's just a matter of trying to save progress made on them rather than having them clawed back to mid last century.

If we are being real he probably isn't a friend to them either. That man is a snake and would sell his own mother for power.

They should really ask how conservatives say they want to restore a household's ability to self-govern, but also want to strip MAID and gender-affirming care.

Or how they claim to care about freedom and the charter, but want to implement "guilty until proven innocent" for repeat offenders.

Would be fun to ask who proof-read their Policy Declaration document in general - the entire thing is a mess of contradictions.

Can they concentrate on worker rights?

That's what's important to people
