Pick a day and time before the campaign begins and find players that can commit to that. Play at the same time consistently. If one player can't make it due to an emergency or something comes up, still play.

Our most recent scheduling we had to put off by a week because one player was going to a concert.

Then we couldn't schedule for the following week because a player had their mom's birthday. And the weekend after that would be Easter.

Then the player who was going to the concert remembered that they forgot to buy tickets. Which they told us about on the Friday before the Saturday we were originally planning to play.

Life pro-tip,

Overbook your sessions, and play at fixed date. Someone is missing ? Their PC is busy with other duties or accept to make an_immersion concession on character suddenly not here_ when not possible to find a plausible explanation.

It solves a lot of the scheduling problems

If I was a player in this game I would stop going. It punishes committed players to put them at the mercy of the uncommitted.
