He said for us to go out and cause some good trouble. Necessary trouble to redeem the soul of our nation. I want you to redeem the dream. Let's be bold in America, not demean and degrade Americans. Not divide us against each other. […] This is a moral moment. It's not left or right, it's right or wrong. Let's get in good trouble. My friends, Madame President, I yield the floor.

Don't let anyone, anyone, pretend that this was business as usual. Senator Booker came out and gave people what they've been asking for - a call to action. This isn't empty democrat promises, this isn't "both sides" bullshit. This was a United States Senator telling the public that shit has hit the fan, and that politics isn't enough anymore.

Fuck the apathy. Fuck the doomerism. This wasn't business as usual, this won't be business as usual. Listen to what the man had to say. Get together. Trouble is coming whether we like it or not. May as well make it good trouble.

It's the perfect encapsulation of the Democratic party to set records that sound impressive while having no tangible effect on the encroaching fascism.

I came here to say the exact thing. Where was he during the fucking budget bullshit?

[–] [email protected] 12 points 19 hours ago (2 children)

He wasn't fillibustering anything. Literally ... no one cared. Nothing got delayed. The multiple Republicans that voted with democrats stopped all votes until Monday.

It wasn't supposed to do anything like that. It was an audition for Chuck Schumer's job, laying out what the Democratic agenda would look like under his leadership, while showing strength, all things Schumer doesn't have.

I'm not a big fan of Booker, but he's miles ahead of the weak, simpering weenie Schumer. I'll NEVER forgive him for stabbing Al Franken in the back. He's got to go, and let AOC take his place.

Schumer is a Republican in my mind. Not quite MAGA level, but he is working for them and giving those traitors aid.

Thanks for the Booker tip, I didn't realize what he was doing. I hope he does get Schumers job, anyone with a spine would do better.

Did Booker say that he is trying to replace Chuck Schumer?

[–] [email protected] -1 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah, he said it with every word he uttered for 25 hours.

Do you have a quote where he says something along the lines of "With this act of protest I am attempting to become the new minority leader?"

If not then you can't assume that and you know it. Of that's what he meant then he should say it using big boy words.

You don't really understand how politics works do you? If you are waiting for politicians to SAY exactly what they mean, you are going to be very confused at what is happening around you.

Trump said exactly what he would do and then he did it.

Why should we suck up to politicians who are compulsive liars?

Im sorry you're losing me.

So politicians always lie and are not interested in helping people, so the guy who wasted a day of speech for literally nothing was a hero?

Is war peace? Is freedom slavery?

I have a book which is Bernie 8 hour speech. Wonder if one will get published of this one.

He wore a pin supporting israels war on Palestinians during his speech. At the same time the IDF shot up a pair of ambulances and buried the crews by the side of the road, and refused to let anyone into the area for a week. Booker is just another stooge looking for attention so he can keep his aipac paychecks coming. I hope he gets primaried.
